Company Says Courts Dismissing OxyContin Lawsuits Purdue Pharma, the company that makes the painkiller OxyContin, is facing a large number of product liability lawsuits, but reported that many of those suits are being dismissed because the cases did not involve proper medical use of the drug. Seven lawsuits claiming personal injuries caused by Oxycontin have been dismissed in the past month, the company said in press reports, and a total of 36 suits have been dismissed.
