Yes, all public jacks, such as those located in the Wheelock Student Center, can connect to the network free of charge. Wireless access is becoming a part of campus as well. A student may also choose to use the phone line in their room to connect to an independent Internet Service Provider. However, this will not allow students access to a high-speed connection nor will it allow access to the campus network. In addition, this will tie up the phone line.

ExpressLink may even be considered a necessity for users accessing the Internet over cellular connections. Cellular connection speeds are significantly slower than landline speeds. Even the high speed cellular data available today rarely matches the speed of a 56Kbps connection. No, a phone cord will not connect to the Residential Network. The campus network utilizes a high-bandwidth ethernet infrastructure; a phone cord does not support this kind of data throughput.
