The Idaho State Historical Society is unable to provide appraisals of the monetary value of materials offered as gifts, brought in for identification, or submitted for any other purposes. In rare cases, the Historical Commission has rescinded the designation of individual buildings. This has happened when the historic resource no longer existed, such as a result of a fire. The process for rescission (or de-designation) must follow the same procedures as designation. Repairing your slate or tile roof is usually preferable to replacing it with another material.
