To upgrade the Virtual Passage client software, reinstall the Virtual Passage installer (network driver) and the Virtual passage connector. To reinstall the driver, just click the Installer Toolbox icon and accept the new driver installation. The installation program will detect the driver has already been installed and will uninstall the old driver and reinstall the new one.

There is no graphical uninstaller. To remove the software, open a Terminal window and execute the following shell command: The uninstall script will prompt for your password. Answer yes to both questions and the application will be completely removed from your system.

To Install TheGreenBow VPN Mobile Client Software, you have to use ActiveSync 4.5 or older and your Mobile Device must be connected to your computer. The VPN Mobile installation procedure is described in the VPN Mobile User Guide as well.

VPN is an acronym for Virtual Private Network. Sacramento State has adopted its use to improve network security when using the on-campus wireless network and accessing campus resources from off-campus through the Internet. Sacramento State users who access campus resources through the Internet, e.g. via their home Internet service provider, will be given a secure connection from their PC to the campus. All Internet packets are encrypted with a strong encryption algorithm.

The VPN client is a "shim" client. It inserts itself below your computer's native TCP/IP stack and intercepts all network traffic received or transmitted, encrypting and authenticating the data on the fly.

The LSU VPN Client is a software application written by Cisco that allows client hosts to connect to the LSU network through a strongly encrypted tunnel and appear on the LSU network as a local LSU host.This is advantageous because it can allow for access to resources such as shares directly as if the host was on the LSU Campus.

While your computer is connected to the LSU network through the tunnel, the following things will happen. Traffic will be splittunneled. This means that all traffic destined for LSU will be encrypted and sent through the VPN tunnel and all other traffic will go unencrypted through whatever ISP you are using. The VPN client for Windows has a builtin firewall which is activated to insure security through the split tunnel.

You will only need to log in via VPN client if you want to access restricted USC resources. For regular Internet usage, you do not need to run the VPN client to get connected. However, ITS strongly recommends that you run the VPN client whenever you connect, as the VPN offers security for your network traffic.

You must have a valid NDSU electronic ID (generally Firstname.Lastname) and password. You must also enable the WLAN service at http://enroll.nodak.edu. Special wireless-only electronic IDs and passwords are also available for guests to use for a few days.
