The industry standard for high-performance painted finishes is a 70% fluoropolymer, also known as Kynar 500® or Hylar 5000®. This class of finish is easy to maintain and is extremely resistant to wear and fading. All Kynar 500® and Hylar 5000® finishes meet or exceed the standards outlined in the AAMA 2605 specification. This type of finish is acceptable in both interior and exterior applications.

Interior drywall can is attached directly to the form webs using conventional drywall screws. Exterior finishes (over the insulation) include stucco, siding and brick or stone. Below grade applications require exterior waterproofing.

All types of sidings, claddings and roofing materials can be applied to R-Control Structural Insulated Panels. The wood face of R-Control Structural Insulated Panels provides an excellent nail base and eliminates stud searching. Q. HOW IS ELECTRICAL WIRING INSTALLED IN R-CONTROL SIPs? Each panel contains a vertical and horizontal electrical chase in the EPS core. Wiring is pushed through chases during construction. Electrical boxes screw mount to the face of the R-Control SIP.

Once people see the natural beauty of a CEB wall, they often ask, “Do we have to cover them?”  On the interior of a home they can be left exposed or finished with a decorative plaster.  On the exterior, we recommend a render or stucco finish.  There are CEB homes that have been sided with cedar, cultured stone, and dare we say-vinyl.    Back to Top

Basically they can be. The only thing to consider with exterior countertops is that they are subject to the elements. Rain, hail, snow, freezing and sunlight. These factors should be put into consideration when planning and building an exterior grade concrete countertop. Make sure the finish will hold up and the concrete uses colorfast agents to maintain its look.

Drywall, or 1x6 t&g pine, or a combination of both, at interior stud partitions and ceilings are our most popular finishes.

On new homes the two coats of colored stain should be applied immediately after the roof is on, the windows have been installed and the logs cleaned prior to any chinking, if it is a chink style home, to prevent coloring the chinking. The clear top coat and subsequent clear maintenance coats can be applied later.

Yes! You can change the type of any proposed exterior finish. Those that are featured on the homes in our magazine and on our website are suggestions only. Many of our customization service's customers choose to do so, whether for economical reasons or simply for personal preference. Note: There are some structural changes involved when converting from brick to vinyl and vice-versa. It is very important that you have your plan modified if you decide to change the type of exterior finish.

Standard T316 is offered for all exterior applications. T304 is offered for some exterior applications, specifically those in arid climates. T304 is may also be suitable for interior use.

Front doors can be painted by the same method used to achieve dramatic high-gloss finishes on the doors of London and the facades of Paris. The door should be rough-sanded (100 grit) to break up the existing finish, and then primed with Hollandlac Oil Primer. After drying, the door should be skim-coated with Swedish Putty and sanded smooth with fine grit paper (220 or finer) until the desired degree of perfection is achieved.

The interior of the non-liner boats do not have gel coat. Instead, they are sprayed with an extremely durable industrial type paint that has been modified for the marine environment. It is a matt finish with darker speckles that hide a lot of stains and minor scratches. If the inside of your boat takes a severe beating from fishing or work activities, this is the recommended interior. The paint is from Zolotone Corp. and is widely available for touch-up.

Yes. Our material is natural stone and is sound enough to handle extreme frost/thaw conditions of the exterior and light enough to be designed into interior plans.

Exterior: we call for 1x tongue and groove planking (plywood can also be used; however, it's more labor intensive as well as creates considerable waste of material), with either wood [cedar] shakes or shingles, or asphalt or fiberglass-impregnated asphalt shingles. However, a metal (aluminum alloy) roof can also be installed [over the sheathing base of the planks or plywood]. Interior: we call for drywall (a.k.a. gypsum board, sheetrock, or plaster board); however, t&g planks can also be used.

Keeping the Statim cassette clean is good clinical practice. The interior surface of the cassette should be cleaned at least once a week with a mild, chlorine-free dishwashing soap. To promote quick drying, we recommend spraying the cassette lid and tray with Stat-Dri after each cleaning. One of the most important considerations in defining the end use performance is weatherability. Outdoor exposure results in absorption of ultraviolet energy. This energy can attack the organic binder and result in gloss loss and color change. Due to a tendency to chalk, epoxies and epoxy containing hybrids are generally not recommended for outdoor use when aesthetics is a primary concern.

A container that is going to be shipped internationally must meet several requirements. The container must be surveyed by a certified marine surveyor to ensure that the integrity of the unit is structurally sound. The unit must have a current CSC Plate (Container Safety Convention) if the unit is 5 years or newer or a valid ACEP sticker (Approved Continuous Examination Program) if it is 5 or more years old. If a unit does not have these, it will be rejected for loading on the terminal.

What do primers and sealers do? The goal of both is to make the finish coat (topcoat) look better and last longer. They do this by providing a variety of properties such as: Stain blocking - preventing stains (e.g., water stains on wallboard, ball point pen ink, or resins fron a knott in a wood surface) on the original surface from bleeding through the topcoat and becomming visible.

The most common type of Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems, sometimes referred to as synthetic stucco, typically consists of five components: adhesive, insulation board, a base coat into which a fiberglass mesh is imbedded, and a decorative finish coat in the desired color. This type of system is called a face sealed barrier EIFS and resists water penetration at its outer surface. It is not intended to drain water that gets behind it.

While fiberglass provides the structure of our caps and tonneaus, smooth gelcoat actually underlies the glossy painted surface that you see on the outside, and is the first item sprayed into a prepared mold. To better match the final color of the product, we use three different primer-style gelcoat colors - light grey, medium grey, and dark grey. By taking this step, the underlying gelcoat enhances the final application of gloss paint.

Primers are designed to prepare surfaces for painting; exterior primers also must withstand harsh weather elements. Alkyd and latex based primers are effective stain blockers and all-around primers for both interior and exterior applications. For exterior application on wood, it’s best to use a top-quality acrylic primer that is recommended for exterior wood. Latex primers work better if the wood is heavy with tannins. Acrylic block fillers are used to prime concrete block.

Don't limit yourself to thinking that tile can just be used indoors. It is an ideal patio covering and for decorative front-porch stoops. You can permanently adhere tile to pre-cast concrete walking pads to create stunning garden stepping stones. But if you decide to use ceramic tile outdoors, be sure these tiles meet slip-resistance minimum requirements. Exterior tiles have a surface texture that helps make them slip resistant.

Braced Panels, Exterior (BP)Brace panels are used as lateral reinforcement to walls enhancing the stiffness of the Structural Plywood, etc.) for an 8' high wall covering a minimum of four studs for 16" o.c. stud spacing and three studs for 24" stud spacing.
