Blooming Awful - FAQ: General concerns - especially first ti...We're sorry to tell you there is no single answer to this question. HG usually peaks at around 7-11 weeks. Some lucky ones find that it improves, right on cue, at 12 weeks. This is not very common, but it's possible. Some find it improves around 14-16 weeks, but most notice improvement by 20-22 weeks. The uncontrollable nausea and vomiting of early HG is usually gone by the middle of the pregnancy, but it would be unfair to mislead you and say that it goes away completely for everyone.Related Questions

Related QuestionsDid you terminate your previous pregnancy due to the severity of HG?
Help HER -& For Mothers | Get Going | FAQ: How do I de...Know that the severity often repeats in future pregnancies. Proactive, aggressive care that is planned in advance is critical to surviving more severe cases of HG. Sometimes each pregnancy will be worse than the previous even with good care. This could be due to the brain becoming more sensitive to the vomiting stimulus, thus making the brain less able to control the vomiting. If you would not terminate again and enter unto pregnancy without a plan, you are taking a significant risk.
Related QuestionsI've heard of using steroids for HG: is this safe?
Blooming Awful - FAQ: TreatmentsSteroids are considered a drug of last resort for severe HG. No drug can ever be considered 100% safe in pregnancy, but most used in HG are considered to be quite close to 100% safe. Steroids are an exception - we know that there is a small risk of cleft palate developing in the unborn baby. Obviously if you're vomiting uncontrollably, the risk to your unborn child is very significant - very severe, unmanaged HG carries a small but significant risk of miscarriage.
