It's a good question with many answers! FIRSTLY - the TriAxis can be set up with many different sounds - make sure that the sounds within the unit are what you like - a simple statement, but unless you know how to change them with memory dumps, then it's twiddle time on the front controls. Unfortunately that is probably NOT the way to do things - the sounds you hear will be dependent on the other items in your rack including the amp used.

TriAxis downloads are saved sound files that you can use to upload to your TriAxis preamp. It's not a new idea - but saves you months of work in developing sounds from scratch - the TriAxis IS complex. See the previous question for more info.

If you are using a Creative Labs AWE 43 or 64 sound card, the audio playback quality will be poor if full-duplex mode is enabled. This is a condition caused by the Creative Labs Driver. The audio is recorded in 16-bit, but will only play back in 8-bit as long as the full-duplex mode is enabled. Once you make a recording, choose Options | Audio | Advanced and uncheck the "Enable Simultaneous Record/Playback" item.

Check your sound card and speaker connections, make sure you have the most current driver for your sound card.

kX Audio Driver fully supports GSIF specification. There are currently two GSIF driver sub-sets: VxD and WDM-based. Since kX Audio Driver is a WDM driver, it supports WDM GSIF only. Under certain circumstances, this causes certain compatibility problems with GSIF-aware applications (such as GigaStudio and GigaSampler), especially under Windows 9x / Millenium. Please upgrade your Giga application (and install any patches available from Tascam).

Yes, if you use the "Play Result" button, you'll hear the effect of those two files being mixed together at the currently selected volume slider levels. You can change the level slider for either file and hear THAT change happen while you listen (if you have a faster system). You can also play just the first or second file alone with the Play File 1 and Play File 2 buttons.

Yes. The sound masking sound is audible if you listen for it. However, sound masking has been designed to be as inconspicuous as possible. The sound masking system is specially tuned to reduce any variation in the sound volume across the office space, so that the masking is uniformed. Also, it does not contain any variations or patterns which can be consciously recognized. The system uses pink noise which is very soothing and pleasant. It sounds similar to lightly blowing air.

The TriAxis program was written many years ago when Windows 95 was the flavor of the month - but things in the computer world move on at an alarming rate. We saw Windows 98, then Windows Millennium, then Windows 2000 and now Windows XP - Bill Gates really does have something to answer for here - most of these operating systems are incompatible in one way or another. For the program to work on XP systems you MUST set the program to run under Windows 95 emulation mode - or it simply will not work.

Did you find the poll that was started in the conversations thread? over 2/3rds of the regular users of this forum don't like it. I'm amazed that "months of research" by the moderater didn't tell them that this was a crappy change and that just about everyone doesn't like it. a newbie, I feel I should voice my opinion. I would never have known the difference, as many newbies may not, between the old and new message community board format.

I can only see the black screen/the graphics is messed up/the game says my video card is not VESA compatible/no SVGA card is found.

There is a workaround for this issue. If you don't have audio tracks assigned to the same output ports as your effects loop, you must have a "dummy" track in Cakewalk assigned to the same port as the effects loop instead. That dummy track must contain an audio event, even if it's a recording of silence. (Back to top)
