Yes! At breakfast, there will always be cereal, fruit and often yogurt. At lunch and dinner there will always be a salad and sandwich bar with peanut butter and jelly or cheese. In addition there will be vegetarian alternatives.

The food program at Christian Chapel Day Care is both delicious and nutritious. The food is prepared on site in our own kitchen by our own cooks. Some of the parents comment regularly about the wonderful aromas as breakfast or lunch is prepared. The children enjoy the food prepared here. We find that usually even the fussiest eater finds something in the meal to eat. Your child will not be forced to eat, but we do encourage children to "taste" some of every food.

Learning to live with differences, good communication, and being open to compromise, are key to a positive roommate experience. Members of the residence life staff are especially trained to assist students who may have roommate problems, and it is important that students seek out these individuals as soon as possible. In those instances in which differences cannot be worked through, most colleges do allow students to request a roommate change after a designated period of time.

The different foods your child will enjoy on a Student Ambassador journey reflect the culture and traditions of the destinations. Trying new foods is a fun way to experience unique cultures and an opportunity for personal growth. Most delegation meals include a choice of items or a buffet of selections, so your child should be able to find foods he or she enjoys.

We have lots of alternatives on our a la carte menu. Choose from pasta salad, houmous with vegetables for dipping, water biscuits rice cakes etc.

Swimming, like many activities, might generate anxieties with children. These anxieties may be most evident on the first day of lessons. As each week progresses these anxieties will be less and less evident. That's why we schedule six week sessions. Time and familiarity eases the anxiety. You can help your child through this period by bringing them to Family Swims. The opportunity to use the pool on "their terms" often helps. Play can be a great teaching aid.

Each resident receives an individualized meal plan determined by our registered dietician. Meals are varied and balanced and include "challenge" foods to support fear reduction. A healthy relationship with foods that may be thought of as "bad" by individuals suffering from an eating disorder are included on a weekly basis.

We offer one of the most flexible meal plans on the market. We strive hard to ensure that you don't waste your money on food you can't eat or don't like. For just a small fee, you may substitute from a list of tasty dishes that are always available. You may also double up on your favorite meals that are available during a particular pickup. What if the children don't like the food? Give feedback to the cook. Make an effort to eat at least some so that the adult is modeling for the children. Mealtimes are an incredible time in the curriculum. Certainly the staff need a break, but take a good look at the schedule and see if anything else will work. The children need the staff at mealtime, just as much as they need them in other activities.

If you call ahead of time and ask for a plate to be saved YOU may feed your child outside the classroom. You may also take your child to the cafeteria in the Student Center before signing them in. We serve three meals daily during which the whole camp dines together. Campers share a table with their bunk mates and cabin counselors. We serve family style, supervised by our kitchen and dining staff. Within every society there are cultural norms; expectations for what a student should know and be able to do by a certain age. Experienced Montessori teachers are conscious of these standards and provide as much structure and support as is necessary to ensure that students live up to them.

No one specific piece is crucial to the success or failure of a student. However, if a student does not like a piece, it is often because it seems difficult in some way. Students often discover that "least-favorite" pieces later become "most-favorite" pieces after some quality practice. Ask the teacher if there is something the child does not understand about the piece. If the student continues to dislike the piece, sometimes the teacher can find a substitute piece that teaches the same concept.

Many individuals with autism experience disturbed sleep. This can be stressful on the family, as they may also become sleep deprived. If your child is experiencing disturbed sleep you should speak with your medical and treatment team about treatment strategies to address this behavior.

Your child may not like praise because he or she is uncomfortable giving or receiving a compliment. With each experience your child has, however, the discomfort should decrease. Perhaps your child is uncomfortable only with public displays of praise, especially in front of friends. If that's the case, save your praise for a more private moment.

The fact is that we rarely experience a child who is not happy with their new abilities. Furthermore, it takes many months to develop even a basic sense of pitch, rhythm and a general musical awareness. Campers eat their meals in the beautiful, spacious Ordway Dining Hall, seated at tables by bunk. Gould Academy’s food service staff serves us the same high quality, delicious food that the boarding school students enjoy all year long. Meals are served buffet style, with several entrée selections accompanied by a salad bar at lunch and dinner, and a sandwich station available at most lunches.
