We get reports of this sort of problem from time to time. While your disk may indeed be defective, it may also be experiencing a compatibility problem with your Play Station game console or your computers DVD-Rom drive. Alas, many of the major Anime studios do not test DVD's on game consoles or DVD-Rom drives when they are being authored, and while they will work in those devices most of the time, there is no guarantee of compatibility.

A PS2 Backup, is a copy of an orginal PS2 game, that are burned onto CDR or DVDR for backup purposes. Please note DVD-R backups are not supported with the USBMOD.

Yes and no. You can backup your originals with "Magickey Tools". But you can¥t use this backup with Neoflash cause it has to be patched.

Note: I use Alcohol 120% as my backup program for ripping scratched originals. DVD Decrypter can be picky with scratched discs, even when set to ignore read errors. Alcohol has ripped some horribly scratched games for me. At times I've let it run six to eight hours to get a usable image. This will put undue strain on your burner and not recommended. If your original game is too scratched to rip, cut your losses and find a download for it.

Although it is possible to get VCD addons for Playstation (not Playstation 2), Sega Saturn, and Dreamcast, do not expect to be able to play a VCD on your game system even if it is equipped to play DVDs. DVD-R: DVD-Rs may work in your game system, but it might not work properly. For example, I tested some discs in my own PS2 and there were problems with the menu that made it almost impossible to select the desired episode.

No. There are some games that people could see as "ports" (GT4, Tony Hawks Underground 2 and Hot Shots Golf for example), but the amount of games like that are very few compared to all the brand new games being developed for the PSP. Those "ports" all feature new content as well.

If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, or Maxell High Grade (DVD+R's). The PS2 laser is picky, these are the only three types of media you should trust for maximum reliability and compatibility with your PS2. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, Dynex, Princo, Bulqpaq, etc. If you really want to do the PS2 backup thing right, pick up some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim's. I only burn to TYG02, the 8x Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's.

You will need some form of a mod for the PS2. If using the Swap Disks system, then do not worry as they are very reliable and I myself along with many others use them and have had no problems. With the swap disks, you need one more form of a mod which could be a flip top which I personall reccemend. The flip top will basically have you simply take off the top of your PS2 and place a new one.

Unfortunately, the list of supported recordable DVD media for game machines has been very inconsistent. For this reason, it has been widely held that very few brands of DVD-Rs work consistently with them. Because of this, DVD-Rs cannot generally be recommended for playback on game systems with any degree of confidence - but your results may vary (for example, the XBOX 360 seems fine). Some people have had no problems while others cannot play them at all.
