What about non-Canon high-voltage packs?
Canon EOS FAQ 2.4 - BatteriesCanon doesn't recommend the use of non-Canon high-voltage packs (of course), but no reports [to my knowledge] of a 3rd-party pack damaging a430EZ have been reported. The most popular 3rd-party H packs are based on lead-acid technology. To attach the pack to the 430EZ, an additional adaptor cable is required. Damage to your flash as a result of connecting to a 3rd-party pack will (of course) void the warranty.
Related QuestionsHow do I discharge the High Voltage?
Apple II Csa2 FAQs: 1Main-Start, Part 1/25 - AppleThe HV charge (20,000+ volts) might not be much reduced by just waiting a few hours (or days), especially if you are in a low humidity location and the tube, etc., are of good quality. You can, probably, _reduce_ the shock hazard by discharging the High Voltage at the anode. You can not, really, expect to eliminate the shock hazard. (See WARNING below.) Step 4 may result in a somewhat loud "SNAP" as the tube is discharged. Be prepared so you don't jump and break something.

Frequently Asked QuestionsA non-canon character is one that did not appear on the show and was invented by a fan fiction writer. Non-canon characters that recur in stories in only small, possibly comic relief roles are perfectly acceptable. Non-canon characters who appear in only one story and are never seen again are also fine. Writers need to "people" a story so the canon characters have someone to interact with.

WEBRECORD® AND WEBRECORD® PRO FAQsFor Enhanced style printing, WebRecord Pro usually uses a print processor that reads the image files from WebRecord Pro's disk cache as required as each page is printed. You can avoid this by not exiting WebRecord Pro while printing is still in progress. This is not an issue when using Standard style printing.

Canon EOS FAQ 2.4 - FlashBefore using any unfamiliar studio strobe or other non-dedicated flash unit with an EOS camera, we STRONGLY recommend that you determine its trigger circuit voltage. Excessive trigger circuit voltage can damage the shutter units and X-contacts of most modern 35mm SLR cameras. Please be aware of the following information: Trigger Circuit Voltage: The "trigger circuit" is the part of any electronic flash that detects the X-sync signal from the camera and then fires the flash.

Related QuestionsAre lower voltage power lines (say 115 kV) safer than high voltage (345kV and above) lines?
a. The risks associated with electric fields directly correspond to a line's voltage. Therefore, the risks associated with electric fields increase in tandem with the line's voltage. b. The better documented risks associated with a line's magnetic field are associated with the current going through a line rather than its voltage. To deliver a given amount of power, utilities must push more current thorough low voltage lines than high voltage lines.
Related QuestionsWhat is the audio signal voltage output and what is the advantage of high voltage output?
CarCPU ? - FAQHigh voltage audio output has become a great marketing point. However, one needs to look further than numbers to understand what the advantage and application is. With most common audio setups, the headunit supplies audio signal to the external amplifiers over RCA wires that may run over a long distance parallel to other wiring. The further wires have to run, the more signal degradation, as well as noise accumulation, will occur.

FAQsTypically this indicates a problem with the regulator. Regulators are complex to troubleshoot, and we recommend replacing them or sending them back to Kato for repair. For repair or replacement parts, contact us at: Paralleling typically involves the governor, regulator, switchgear and other factors. As a general rule, if the problem is kW load sharing the issue is more likely with the governor. If the problem is with KVAR sharing, the issue is more likely with the regulator.

The Arc (HV AC) process converts nitrogen in air into some nitrous compounds - no one in the "industry" has been able or willing to say what but silver nitrate is a likely result! There is a decided risk in comsumption of nitrates and thus the EPA limits them in drinking water to 10PPM.
Related QuestionsShould I buy a non-Canon (third party) lens?
Canon EOS Beginners' FAQ III - LensesDespite Canons vigorous advertising campaign against third-party lenses a lot of people happily use lenses made by Tamron, Tokina and Sigma (and lenses with other brandnames but probably built by one of those three). And theres one really good reason for this - the third party lenses are almost always much much cheaper than equivalent offerings from Canon. So. Should you buy a third party lens? Its not a simple yes/no issue, so here are some points to consider.
Related QuestionsCan you use non-Canon lenses with EOS cameras?
Canon EOS Beginners' FAQ III - LensesThat depends. Many third party lensmakers - Tamron, Sigma and Tokina being the big three - manufacture lenses specifically designed to fit Canon EOS cameras. These lenses will, of course, work fine with EOS cameras. The main caveat is the compatibility with the electronics detailed above. However, if you have a third-party lens which does not physically fit onto your EOS camera then you can obviously assume that the lens will not work with EOS cameras.

Related QuestionsWhy is exposure with my Canon flash system so unpredictable?
Digital Photography FAQRecent Canon SLRs use a system called E-TTL to determine flash exposure. (Newer models use E-TTL II, which seems to be more robust.) E-TTL is praised by some for allowing very precise control over flash exposure when used properly, but it is slammed by others for being too sensitive to very small changes in the center of the image and requiring too much planning to get proper "automatic" exposure. There is probably some truth in both positions.
