Some Continuing and Professional Education courses may count toward a degree. Others will not. The program you want to transfer the credit into decides whether or not they will accept your Continuing and Professional Education credit. This means that while one program may accept your credit, another program may not. If this is a concern for you, it is best to check with an advisor prior to registering for courses.

The East West School is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing to offer continuing education credit for the Community Herbalist and Professional Herbalist Courses. No other materials are required in addition to what is included with each of the courses. Basically, there is no difference. Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) encompasses all extended studies courses and professional development workshops held on or off campus. We offer courses not associated with the earning of a degree through our Center for Career Advancement and Training (CCAT). The CCAT offers a wide range of content courses to help educators and administrators meet the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) in technology, social studies, language arts, geography, history, math and more. A special focus of the CCAT is youth aggression and violence prevention, as well as developing skills to deal with at-risk and diverse populations.

CPE courses are ideal for working professionals, stay at home parents, human resources mangers looking for new opportunities for employees and/or UMass Amherst alumni. Anyone with a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED) may register as an undergraduate and may enroll in courses before being formally admitted to a degree program. However, if you are not formally admitted to a degree program, there may be restrictions on financial aid eligibility.

You don't have to be admitted to take Continuing Education classes. Courses are open to adults of all ages. Completion of individual courses does not imply admission into a degree program.

In order to maintain a Utah license, CPAs must obtain 80 hours of Professional Development (CPE)during a two-calendar year period.
