Searches: There is a keyword search that searches the Website pages as well as the information in the database. There is also an advanced search which searches the information in the database only. A database view is a temporary, selective representation of database fields from one or more tables. The view data is held in a structure that behaves like, and can be treated as, a standard database table. The field values held in a view are dynamically updated as the tables they refer to are changed, so the view is always current. Database views are created by assigning the results of a standard SQL query to a named view, as in the simple example below.

NYC keeps a user-defined nutrition database (user.ndb, user.nix) separate from the main database (main.ndb, main.nix). You can enter your own items using Nutrition... Database... You can change the order of items by using Browse : All (see the Move menu). After moving a number of items to new positions, quit the browser (e.g. by pressing Esc). Respond with Yes to “Do you want to rebuild the database?”. Remember that the rebuilding process is quite time consuming and that it is quite error prone. Place the letter "z" in front of the field(s) you commonly lookup by.
