A lot of our fonts are based on historical calligraphy or antique type designs. In the many historical periods and regions there were no letters for 'j', 'u', or 'w'. These letters are variations of 'i' and 'v' respectively and were developed in the last few hundred years. 'Y' as we have it in English is related to 'g'. The current form is modern in origin, derived from the Greek upsilon to differentiate it from the 'g'.

Internally, Leo represents all strings as unicode. Leo translates from a particular encoding to Unicode when reading .leo files or derived files. Leo translates from Unicode to a particular encoding when writing derived files. You may see strange looking characters if your text editor is expecting a different encoding. The encoding used in any derived file is shown in the #@+leo sentinel line like this: #@+leo-encoding=iso-8859-1.

There are special fonts that were included in your installation, and they may not yet be recognized by your PC as being available. Therefore, use the Windows Explorer (or some other folder viewer) to find "C:\WINDOWS\FONTS" (or use the Windows Control Panel to find "Fonts." The difference between -j and -Y is only the order that transcode does the clipping. In the manual page we find that the video frame operations ordering is fixed: So if one needs to do frame clipping and resizing, in a specific order, he can choose the apropriate transcode options. In Windows operating systems prior to Windows 2000, choose Start > Accessories > Character Map. First, my columns were deemed too narrow. Then people said I should change the font. we are in beta version, the system has a few constraints. To appear in the slideshow and workspace areas, images need to be in JPG format. They also need to be in RGB color mode. Large files may have trouble appearing in the slideshow, and you will see a gray screen with the words "Image cannot be resized." Not to worry, we are working on fixing this problem. The font size we use on our web site is such that it shows well on computer screens set to display at 640x480 and 800x600. Any size (screen resolution) greater than either of these (such as 1024x768 or 1152x870) will make the text appear extremely tiny.
