Is there a sanctioned way of retrieving the GFS data 4 times a day? I don't want to use the READY web interface in an automated script. http://www.windguru.cz/ is a good example of what I want to do, but with a subset of data a balloonist would find useful. I have been using the GFS model data to get soundings to assist me in the running of advanced gliding courses in Australia.

CLOC Data - The Core Dataset: contains data from all respondents, at all four waves (BL, W1, W2, W3). This is the complete dataset with 1532 records. Many of our files are served as binary files. This is due to the fact that support for binary raster files is relatively standard across platforms and image processing packages. Arbutus Analyzer and LegacyLink™ treat data sets stored on tape as just another data set. As long as the tape data set is catalogued, and mounted, the end-user will not notice that the data came from a tape versus DASD.

Data sets that span multiple DASD or tape volumes are treated as any other data set. The end-user may experience a delay if multiple tape volumes must be mounted to satisfy a data request.

Yes. Web-based survey data is collected/stored and compiled into an encrypted data file. There are virtually no limitations in terms of the number of cases our systems can handle in terms of the volume of survey traffic, and/or in the management/analysis of data files. On more than one occasion, we have managed data sets as large as 1,000,000 records comprised of over 500 variables.
