My standard file format is JPG in full resolution (10.2 mega pixels). The recommended printing sizes vary picture by picture, but I have seen very nice poster size enlargements from my pictures.

ArtMatic's images are exported without a DPI setting. When exporting from ArtMatic Pro, enter the pixel dimensions of the image you want. For example, if you want the image to be 4 inches square at 300 dpi, export the image with 1200 pixels by 1200 pixels. In your graphics app, open the picture and set the DPI setting without re-sampling the image. In PhotoShop, open the Image Size dialog and set the print resolution to the desired resolution.

All images are delivered in digital format (on disc). Each image is delivered in color as well as black & white. Additionally, there is a full resolution copy of each image, as well as an email-friendly version. The full resolution files are 3000 X 2008 pixels. In other words you can print the pictures up to 24" X 36" without losing quality.

We photograph your images at 4288x2848, about 12.4 megapixels. Due to the fact that we only use professional SLR digital cameras and sharp specialty lenses, our photos can withstand being printed very large. Many of our clients use our photographs for tradeshow graphics printed several feet across.

Less than 1 mb total size *Images fit best on the screen if they are 500x500 or less, and images greater than 500 pixels wide can not be uploaded at all. For photographic and fine art editions, our ideal file format is a flattened RGB tiff. We also accept jpegs, PDFs, and native Adobe PhotoShop formats. Optimum image resolution is 300-360 dpi at the final size to be printed. Resolution below 150 dpi may show pixilation. Display and design files can be submitted in most popular design programs, such as InDesign, Illustrator, or Quark. Please accompany design files with image links and fonts (or outlined fonts).

There are several different types of file formats that you can save your pictures as once they are scanned; one of these file formats is .jpg. PowerPoint® works best with tif or jpg images. PICT and EPS images from a Mac brought into a PC are a definite problem!

Open the PDF file by one of the above methods - either within the browser, or separately using the Adobe Acrobat Reader application. Then to print the document, simply click on the printer icon in the Adobe Acrobat Reader tool bar (which appears above the document). You will get a standard Printer Options window pop-up, which allows you to select the range of pages you want to print, etc.

The graphic file formats which are best for saving pictures for the Internet are GIF's (Graphic Interchange Format) and JPEG's (Joint Photographic Experts Group). GIF's and JPEG's are Web graphics standards; Web browsers are able to translate them so you can view them. JPEG/JPG (pictures with lots of colour e.g. photos) and GIF (e.g. diagrams that have a limited number of colours).

A minimum of 100 ppi (pixels per inch) at the final output size is suggested. (An example would be: 6"x6" original to be output 20"x20". 20 divided by 6 = 3.3. So you are enlarging your image 4 times. 4x100ppi = 400 ppi. You should scan your original at 400 ppi, when your image is enlarged 4 times the resolution goes down 4 times, resulting in a 20x20 at 100 ppi.) Vector based graphics & text (Illustrator, Freehand, CorelDraw, QuarkXPress) are scaleable to any size.

Currently, $0.25 additional charge is added per print to upload a high-resolution picture due to the extra time required by the network to manage the extended communication. Note: As a benefit to those who choose high-resolution uploads to Print@Kodak from COMPACTFLASH Cards the STORYBOX Network will use the high-resolution picture for your prints and copy the high-resolution picture to your StoryCenter Inbox so that you can store the high-resolution picture in an Album in your StoryCenter.

For pictures taken with a digital camera, we recommend that that photos be between 2-3 megapixels in resolution (i.e. 1600x1200 pixels, through 2000x1500 pixels). Smaller resolutions will still be acceptable, especially if you place more than one photo on a page (will will make the images smaller). If you are scanning pictures, we recommend 300 dpi resolution for pictures that are 3" x 5" or larger. If the pictures are smaller than that, you should increase the scan resolution to 400 dpi.

In MATLAB version 4.2 there is a GhostScript device for HPGL. If you are using MATLAB 4.1.1, 4.1 or 4.0, this option does not exist. The only way to generate an HPGL format file is on the Windows version where you must specify an HPGL printer driver as your default printer. Then, under the File pulldown menu, select Print. In the lower left-hand corner of the Print box is an option to print to a file. Select this option and then select OK. You will then be prompted for an output filename.

ArtMatic Voyager saves pictures up to 4096 by 4096 pixels. The print resolution is up to your graphics application.

The e-SiteCam takes either a .3 Megapixel or 1.3 Megapixel picture. You control the resolution from your web based picture management. No need to drive out to the e-SiteCam to change it.

The optimum resolution for large format printing is 150 dpi at the final printed size. If the digital picture is between 72 and 150 dpi at the final printed size and has good quality colour and contrast then it should be fine.

Most common formats are jpeg, gif, png, bmp. The larger the file is, the better are details viewed. Any photos are good as long as our artists can clearly see the details of your photo.You can send whatever photos you have on hand. We will review them and in case they are not good enough to be used for a portrait painting, we will contact you further to make sure you send us photos good enough to use in the process.

Your digital file needs to be at least 200 dpi with a 1:1 ratio on image size. Example: you want your image size to be 40" x 30" when it is printed, digital file must be 40" x 30" at 200 dpi or 6000 x 8000 pixels which is approximately 137 Mb file in TIFF format. TIFF is best for us. Although we can also work with many other formats when necessary.

Our printers are capable of printing at many different resolutions. We opt to print our fine art reproductions at 720x1440 dpi (dots per inch). This high resolution output provides an apparent continuous tone print showing little to no dot pattern. Now keep in mind, our printers use many different colors of ink to achieve millions of printable hues and shades. With all of these dots piled on top of each other, the resulting print is an amazingly accurate reproduction of the original.

Shorten (extension .shn) is an audio compression scheme written by Tony Robinson of SoftSound that can compact wav files without subtracting out any frequencies. It's "lossless"- everything in the original wav is there, so that full quality is maintained. For many traders of live music, Shorten files (shns) therefore have an undisputed advantage over "lossy" mp3-format files.

Artwork for all custom sign letters, plaques and logos need to be vector based. Vector--eps, ai, dxf, cdr--(not jpeg, gif or bitmap) files are required for provided production artwork.
