A pre-emergent, such as FertilForce™ Pellet Concentrate, prevents seeds from germinating. Therefore, it must be applied before the seeds germinate. It does not kill existing weeds. A post-emergent, such as FertilForce™ Pellet Concentrate kills already existing weeds. It is sprayed directly on the foliage of the weeds.
