A.4. Who wrote QAML?

The QAML FAQ
QAML version 1.0 was written by Justin Higgens, of faq.org. Email jhiggins@dn.net. This version used SGML, and so is very lenient on tagging errors. QAML version 2.0 uses XML, and so you need to be more careful with providing all the tags needed for a well-formed XML document. It has very full support for the latest World Wide Web Consortium specifications (see http://www.w3.org). It was written by Rick Jelliffe, of the Academia Sinica Computing Centre, Taipei, Taiwan.

Draft rec.boats.cruising FAQ
My name is David Dennis, and I'll be very up front about this: I have virtually no cruising experience, an attribute that would seem to disqualify myself completely and utterly from FAQ writing or maintenance. What I've discovered over the years, though, is that one of the best ways to learn and accumulate knowledge and eventually become an expert is to write a FAQ. And, since I'm an inverterate reader, I know quite a bit more than one might think.

HTML is the HyperText Markup Language (RFC 1866), a specific application of SGML used on the World Wide Web. Not quite. SGML is the 'mother tongue', used for describing thousands of different document types in many fields of human activity, from transcriptions of ancient Irish manuscripts to the technical documentation for stealth bombers, and from patients’ clinical records to musical notation. HTML is just one of these document types, the one most frequently used in the Web.

Who wrote the Gospel of Thomas?

The Gospel of Thomas: Frequently Asked Questions
No one knows. The four canonical gospels and Thomas and other gospels such as the Gospel of Philip (found at Nag Hammadi) were given their names some time in the second century. Scholars of the New Testament generally agree that none of the gospels were written by people who had ever met Jesus of Nazareth during his lifetime. But at a later date names were assigned to them that were associated with famous individuals in the earliest church.
