What version of Windows do I need? Is one better than another?
AGI-Light FAQsWindows 95, 98, ME, NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 are theoretically all acceptable. However, we prefer Windows NT or 2000 as they have proven to be much more stable platforms and support additional Open-GL hardware acceleration. The various versions of Windows 98 (FE,SE,ME) have been implicated in a variety of problems from video to output. We recommend that they be avoided.

Is it possible that the windows version downloads better/faster than the linux version?
ed2k-gtk-gui - A GUI for eDonkey2000 on linux/freebsd - faqEverything is possible. Fact is, it is very hard to make proper comparisons. Even if the settings are exactly the same, most donkey users will probably agree that downloadspeed can be a function of virtually anything, meaning it can be totally random. Maybe you just caught a good time with your windows client and a bad one with your linux client. FAQSWhile the older Versions (98,ME,2000,XP) of Windows were all good operating systems, none them were designed to cope with the magnitude of dangers on the World Wide Web in the year 2008. These systems just weren’t designed to handle the nasty stuff that’s out there today. Most of these systems that I see either won’t boot at all or are so slow and/or plagued with so many error messages that they are practically unusable.
