It will be Arts-integrated. Our teachers take the state standards in their content or grade level and plan from those. All lessons have an arts focus to them, for example you are teaching History, but reading and acting out a play about the American Revolution. Our approach will be called "Focused Investigation." There is no software in the world currently that can run such simulations properly. The first version will place about one neuron per processor - some will have more because the neurons are less demanding. We can in principel simulate about 50'000 neurons, placing many neurons on a processor. The first version of Blue Gene cannot hold more than a few neurons on each processor. Ideally, learning communities foster learning to learn as a social act. Students involved in learning communities will bring the confidence and social energy fostered by membership in the community into the classroom. Why are you so surprised? It isn't like the Spanish language is a secret! And I didn't exactly lack for people to practice with in southern California.
