For each breed the AKC registers, there is a breed standard which is a word description of the perfect dog of that breed. Standards describe the mental and physical characteristics that allow each breed to perform the function for which they were originated. Attending dog shows can be a wonderful hobby. It involves some degree of dedication to your chosen breed and since it is considered a sport, will naturally require a great deal of learning on your part, as well as ongoing training and practice. The more you put in the more you will get out. You can exhibit your dog at "Open Shows" from 4 months of age and at "Championship shows" from 6 months old.
