A lot of our campers come alone. They all arrive on Sunday with one idea in mind... to make new friends! So attending our camp alone is never a problem.

The camp registration form has a designated field where campers can indicate the names of other same-age campers with whom they would like to share a cabin. Every effort is made to honor requests but no guarantees will be made. All cabin assignments are arranged prior to the start of camp and cannot be altered at check-in.

Many girls get scared or nervous before attending their first day at camp, whether it's day camp or overnight camp. To help you feel more comfortable, perhaps before camp opens you could visit the day camp site to become familiar with things. You might also see if you could talk with the camp director to learn more about the program. She or he could answer any of your questions. Finally, see if there is someone you know who is attending camp; you could have a buddy on the first day.

All campers are assigned roommates at the beginning of camp. If your son is attending without a friend, we do our very best to find someone that is the same age. In the event that your son's roommate is unable to attend camp at the last minute, we will find a roommate for him. Top

The goal of our Summer Handwriting Camp is to teach children the skills and tools they will need to be successful with handwriting in school and to make handwriting FUN! Most children are able to follow through in using these skills with the benefit of parent participation. Some children, however, do benefit from an additional session. It depends on the skill level your child has coming into camp and the amount of parent involvement in practicing at home.

No guarantees here! But your child may very well do better in math during the school year. One youngster who was consistently scoring in the 95th percentile on a standardized test jumped to the 99th percentile after a summer at MathTree.

Campers will be able to make phonecalls each day during free time (1pm 3pm) in our new center. Pay phones are not open Sunday or Monday. Since parents cannot call campers directly, we advise that parents sit down with their campers ahead of time and discuss how you would like them to use the pay phones. We will not require campers to call, so they will have to do so on their own initiative. Phone cards will available for purchase in the camp store if you do not send one with your camper.

Many of our campers take multiple camps. Campers may choose to enroll in as many additional camp weeks as they would like to maximize their learning experience and fun! There is an additional fee of $100 per night for resident campers who stay for the weekends between consecutive camps. This fee covers room and meals. Campers staying over between sessions are fully supervised and participate in organized activities.

Not all families experiences of head lice is the same way. Some kids are untroubled whilst others seem to be cursed. We have experienced both situations with our two children, one was a head lice free zone, the other a magnet. There may be many reasons such as; who your kids play with, how they interact with other kids i.e. do they cuddle up to their friends a lot. Some kids also get a lot more lice than their own brothers and sisters and friends in the same class.

No. You can only sign-up your children or the children that are in your care, ie you are considered to be their guardian. If you will be out of town on the day of registration, you will have to attempt to sign your child up at a later date. We do not accept early registrations.

Discovery Creek encourages campers to make new friends but understands the importance of being with friends they know, especially in new surroundings. Therefore, the Camp Director will make an effort to fulfill any requests by parents noted on their camp application for campers to be with friends or siblings during the camp day.

The Local Education Authority has a duty to take legal action agains parents/carers whose child(ren) do not attend school other than for a legitimate reason. Legal action may take the form of prosecution in the Magistrates' Court where, if convicted, disposals include a range of fines up to £2,500.00.

Children can sense fear in their parents, so it is important not to let your child feel that a visit to the dentist is something to be worried about. Try to be supportive if your child needs to have any dental treatment. If you have any fears of your own about going to the dentist, don’t discuss them in front of your child. Regular visits to the dentist are essential in helping your child to get used to the surroundings and what goes on there.

No, the Kent Cummins Magic Camp is a coordinated two-week learning experience. Family members can visit the camp unannounced at any time, but the curriculum is only available to campers who have signed up for a complete session. Friends are welcome during the Open House, normally held during the last hour of the last day of each session.

We are aiming for 50% girls and 50% boys, however we will not know for sure until all the teens have registered. Regardless of the number, boys and girls will be accommodated in separate buildings.

Accommodations are your responsibility. We can recommend hotels that offer a discount to you as a participant in our program. Upon registration, we’ll mail you a confirmation package that will include a list of recommended hotels.

If your child is attending college, he or she may be able to obtain low cost or no-cost immunizations through the Health Services Department at their college campus, or through a private health care provider or clinic.

Parents are responsible for giving appropriate notice when they plan on changing providers. This is a general practice with private-pay parents. If the parent does not give appropriate notice, s/he is responsible for paying any fees specified in the provider's contract. The authorization will end the Saturday of the last week the child actually attends.

Phone calls to or from campers are highly DISCOURAGED. In the event of an emergency, parents should contact the camp at 765-564-2898. The Camp Director will then work with the parent to determine the best way to notify the camper. If calling outside of office hours, please follow the voice prompts for accessing the Camp Director’s emergency pager.

The camp application requires the submission of a medical record form and emergency medical card to list any special allergies or medicines that any individual camper needs to take (see most of these medical forms). All staff has been trained to insure the timeliness, accuracy and application of medicines supplied by childrens' physicians. Staff will discreetly dispense medication if prescribed by a physician, and provided by parents in its original container.
