Answer - To tune the guitar down a half step simply means to tune every string down one fret or a flat. If your guitar is tuned standard 440 pitch E / A / D / G / B / E, a half step down would be Eb / Ab / Db / Gb / Bb / Eb. Answer - It sounds like your pots are on the way out, but it could be a build up of dirt on the internal surface parts. You can try to clean them with a contact and head cleaner that can be bought at an electronics store. If this does not work you may have to replace them.

Your B string to your E 6th fret and your high E string to your low E string which should already be de-tuned.

Answer - Some guys tune down to make singing easier. Especially when they tour and have to sing almost every night. Answer - You will have to loosen the tremolo springs on the back of the guitar to counter act the loss of tension from the heavier strings. The springs were probably tightened when the heavier strings were installed.

To best explain the most common causes of this problem, lets follow the path of the strings. We begin at the tuners. If the they are poorly made, loose, or installed incorrectly, the strings will slip. Next, the strings can bind at the nut if the slots are cut at the wrong angle or incorrect width. Now the strings pass over the entire neck and this is where intonation is very important. If it has not been properly set, you will notice some chords sound in tune and others do not.

There are several ways to tune a guitar. One way is to use an electronic tuner, of which there are several types. There is also a way to tune the guitar fairly accurately without using an electronic tuner. You do need to tune one string (usually the fifth or A string) to an accurate source like a tuning fork, pitch pipe, or a piano. Be sure to tune the fifth string to the proper octave. If you tune it too high, you risk breaking strings or damaging the instrument.

The class fees pay only for my time to teach each class. Each student must earn the certification by demonstrating proficiency in the various required skills and by passing the written test. If at the end of the class I don't think you're ready to do these dives without an instructor, I will not issue your card. If I did otherwise, I'd be doing both of us a disservice. I hope you understand.

Ratings points have a meaning in the same way as traditional averages do. Over 900 points is a supreme achievement. Few players get there, and even fewer stay there for long. 700 plus is normally enough to put a player in the world top ten. 500 plus is a good, solid rating. If only! The ratings are designed so they could be calculated using only the information that appears on a match scorecard. All of the ratings calculations are done using desktop technology.

If you have the opportunity to be present at the birth of a child or witness someone's death, you can understand. Birth is, of course, tremendously joyful and death is sorrowful, but with both events there is a sense of a gate opening and a transition happening. Birth and death are both processes that totally take over. They're more important than anything else going on.

The Tremsetter stabilizes your tremolo to minimize "tremolo sag". "Tremolo sag" is what you experience when you bend a string, increasing the string pressure causing your tremolo to rock or sag forward. This puts your adjacent strings out of tune. This is especially annoying when you are trying to play country or blues style double stop bends. Also, when your tremolo sags forward, you have to bend farther to raise the pitch of your strings.

Answer - Don't feel bad, I've been playing for 25 years and I'm still trying to catch up to new stuff. The Floyd Rose was not designed for what you are trying to achieve because it's a floating system, that's why it's giving you a hard time (you can try blocking the bridge with a piece of wood). They do make a Floyd system that has a drop "D" tuner on it but that's as far as they go with it.

Kirk's duties on the albums are mostly for the full-blown lead guitar solos, On the new albums Load and ReLoad, Kirk's role as guitar player has expanded to playing a more important role in the overall sound.

I really wished that transcribing guitar tabs was a piece of a cake. In that case we would have complete guitar tabs already incorporated in DMM. Unfortunately is the reality something completly different and we hope that we will see guitar tabs in DMM on solos, riffs and intros in near future. Step-up/Down Transformers are used to convert electricity from 220/240 VAC to 110/120 VAC (Step Down) or 110/120 Volt AC to 220/240 Volts AC (Step-up). Half-life refers to the period of time required for one-half a sample of parent material to change into daughter material. For potassium-40, the half-life has been determined to be about 1.3 billion years. This means that if one started with 1000 atoms of potassium-40, 500 of them would change into argon-40 in 1.3 billion years. After another 1.3 billion years, only 250 atoms would remain, while there would be 750 atoms of argon-40.
