FILM MASTERS will supply the barcode printed on labels for you to adhere to the book. The standard label used for the barcode is 2 X 1. We have both sheet labels, paper or polyester, and roll labels in various sizes to meet your label requirements. Labels are available printed in one to four colors in various sizes and quantities.

Yes. Please allow a white "window" (usually bottom right of the back cover) the size for a standard barcode is 32mm wide x 26mm high. The barcode is usually printed in black ink. Please check with us if you would like to use another colour, as some colours (such as red or yellow), cannot be seen by the barcode scanner. If you are supplying the barcode, it must be in an EPS format (not TIFF).

Once you receive your assigned ISBN's from Bowker, call FILM MASTERS and we will create an EAN barcode and send it to you, your printer or graphic artist.

Barcodes are issued and controlled by the Uniform Product Code Council. You can contact them at (937) 435-3870 and for a fee they will issue your company a set of numbers which can be used for your product barcode. Barcoding companies are available across the country. They supply labels / tags as per supplier's / buyer's designs. Label cost is low (from 50 paise / label upwards). Alternatively barcodes can be printed on product package itself (if feasible) EAN India, a non-profit organisation Govt-Industry initiative and responsible for allocation of International Numbering stds used in barcoding has been extending technical advice. EAN India's web-site-www.eanindia.com provides guidance on barcoding.

QRCODE barcodes can be printed with P-touch Editor Version 3.0 and 3.1 but not with b-PAC. However, since b-PAC can replace image files, a file containing an image of the barcode can be created and used to print the barcode. Depending on the size of the barcode and the software used to create the image file, there may be large differences in accuracy when the barcode is read by the barcode reader.

If you plan to purchase a distribution service for your book or if you are planning to enter your own ISBN for your book, you will need to leave a 3.625" x 1.25" area on the bottom right corner of your back cover that is free of any text and/or images that should not be cut off. This area is for your bar code, ISBN and Content ID number. Your ISBN bar code will be automatically generated by Lulu if you are using separate front and back covers.

The printer might not recognize the BarSIMM, and the barcode font parameters create huge fonts that overflow memory. Yes we can. We will need 2 copies of the book to have access to left and right margins after we trim off the spines. Creating digital cover art from a printed book can be done but, please bear in mind that the reproduction will only be as good as the original. There may also be additional retouch time needed to remove fold lines on the spine -- depending on the art this time will vary. Please note that the two books will be disassembled for this process.

Because of the significant expense of printing and publishing a book, our resources our currently only available as downloadable e-books and CDs. Many customers find the e-book the best option because they get instant access to the information that they need. You are also free to print out the ebook, or sections of it, for your own use.

We're not yet able to professionally print and bind books, though we hope to offer this service by mid-2007. In the meantime, you may print out your Ancestry Press pages on your home printer.

Each of our publishing packages include your choice of cover art templates. Each template offers a different professionally created design. You will supply us with the text for the back cover and an author biography if you wish. Author photos are optional. If you choose to include one, the photo must be no larger than 2" by 3" at 300dpi.
