An animal tied to a fixed object can put tremendous force to the hardware (and it's own body), far more than when it is hand walked on a lead. With harnesses and leads, a pet can chew through the webbing in a matter of moments, and then be free to roam. A pet on a tie-out is also at increased risk of entanglement (hanging) or attack by at-large animals.

Harness sizing is based on the adjustability of the girth. If you don't have a dress makers tape, use a piece of string around the animal's ribcage, just behind the front legs. Measure snugly, not how you want it to fit. If you are using string, and don't have a ruler, you can use the known size of a standard piece of paper (8.5" by 11") to get a good idea of the pet's actual circumference. Whatever that measurement is, add in an extra 5% for comfort.

Picking the right width and size range for your dog depends on the dog's age, neck size and, to some extent, the size of the dog. 1/2" products are appropriate for pets up to 20 pounds or so. A 1/2" collar for a new puppy is a great way to introduce the concept of wearing a collar. It's lightweight and will give you a way to quickly attach a lead for those frequent trips outside during house-training. Early on in life, the dog has to be taught about being on a lead, and what it means.

Please take a measurement of your pup's neck where the collar will comfortably sit. Don't make it too tight! Add at least 1" for comfort. Our collar measurements take into consideration the fact that for the best appearance you may not want to have the buckle going into the very last hole.

Well, if you repair cars or train to be an oil burner technician, you will get dirty, real dirty and will need to contend with a lot of strong odors on a daily basis. People who strain their budget to buy expensive boats don't tend to use them that much, because they're busy earning money to keep both their boat and other aspects of their lifestyle afloat. This depends on the kind of work you want to do. If working in very thick metal, get a pump that is capable of putting a lot of horsepower to the nozzle. Although a smaller pump can machine thick metal, a larger pump will be faster, and therefore more practical. If cutting mostly thin metal, or doing water-only cutting, get a smaller pump. Smaller pumps are often cheaper, cost less to run, are easier to maintain, more reliable, and are quieter. Bigger pumps, however, allow faster cutting.

We cannot tell you your pet's size based on its breed or weight, as all pets come in many different shapes and sizes. All of our collars, harnesses and pet apparel are sized in inches. Many manufacturers vary somewhat on their sizing, so please measure your pet carefully and order accordingly for each product.

Most collars are adjustable but sizes vary from brand to brand so once you have chosen the style of collar you like, check the available lengths for that collar. Then measure your dog around the neck in centimeters while keeping two fingers between your dog's neck and the measuring tape (otherwise the collar will be too tight). I think that the best collar for a Chihuahua is the harness. The Chihuahua is a delicate little dog, although he or she may display a 'big dog' attitude. It is easy for a collar around his neck to cause his/her trachea to collapse or damage his or her neck. The harness equalizes the restraint on the dog and is a much better choice, whether you are just going in the back yard, or across the neighborhood. We own 10 chi's but one of them was born without a tear gland in her left eye.

First decide what size of poodle would best fit your lifestyle. Smaller poodles (teacups) might not fit as great with young children. Male or female should not be a big factor, as they both make great pets. It is a little pricier to have a female fixed than to have a male dog fixed.

First determine how your pet sleeps. If your pet sleeps curled up in a ball, then a Slumber Nest would be the best choice. Measure your pet while in this curled up position and then add 7 inches to determine cuddler length. If your pet prefers to stretch out then a rectangle bed in foam or polyfil would be the choice for your pet. In this position, again measure your pet and add 12 inches to determine bed length.
