Coated stock is super-shiny paper produced by pressing the paper against a polished metal drum while the coating is still wet. Uncoated stock has more of a matte or dull finish and will abosrb the inks printed on the paper , and make them appear slightly duller.

Paper is available as uncoated, coated both sides, and coated one side only. Coated means that the paper has a smooth finish to it. The coating can have a range of gloss, from a dull finish to a high-gloss finish. Coated paper is often used for 4-color printing because the colors “pop” more because they are “resting” on the coated finish rather than “soaking” into uncoated paper. In general, enteric coating assists in the protection of a material from the proteolytic enzymes and hydrochloric acid in the stomach. The enteric coating must breakdown in the small intestines in order to release the SOD for absorption. Unfortunately, the pancreas releases other protein digestive enzymes into the small intestines. Therefore, whatever SOD gets released will only be degraded at this level! Enteric coating will not prevent this problem.
