The President's Budget, as projected for fiscal years 2007 through 2011, provides NASA sufficient resources to complete the first phase of the Vision for Space Exploration, which includes completing the International Space Station, retiring the Space Shuttle by 2010, and keeping efforts on track to bring the Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle on-line by 2014 and return people to the moon by 2020, while continuing strong programs in aeronautics, and space and Earth science.

Has anyone compared these numbers with the current casualty list? Ten years is a lot of time to keep that much resources devoted to oversight of one country. This is worth discussing.

The NASA Engineering Design Challenge: Lunar Plant Growth Chamber is an opportunity for students, K-12, to help solve a real-world problem NASA is facing for future space exploration -- how to sustain resources on the moon. In the fall 2007-spring 2008 school year, students in K-12 can design and/or build their own version of a lunar plant growth chamber.

Polar sites have an abundance of sunlight, which alleviates concerns about energy storage. It would be possible to operate a polar outpost on solar power. The environment at the poles of the moon is relatively benign, making it easier to design a habitat. Temperatures at the poles vary no more than about 50 degrees Celsius all year round, while temperatures at the equator can vary 250 degrees Celsius from day to night.

The NASA Fellowship Program is a collection of noncredit, executive education programs offered by universities such as Harvard, MIT, Carnegie-Mellon, and Simmons. The programs are targeted primarily for employees at the GS-13 to SES levels. Each year the Agency selects participants for these programs on a competitive basis. NASA Headquarters pays tuition, fees, and travel expenses for those selected.

If it is, then the Roadmap for Agile MDA is likely a good starting point.

People often think that the 'A' in MDA stands for the architecture of the system being built using MDA techniques. It does not. The 'A' in MDA stands for the architecture of your development environment. In other words, the way different models, like PIM and PSM, and different tools (from different vendors), like modeling tools, code generators, and IDEs, relate to each other.
