Why is there is a humming or buzzing noise coming from my subwoofer?

Do NOT ground the grounding tab on the cheater plug! That would defeat the purpose of the cheater plug for this application. You have an amplifier problem. If the ground cheater plug does not help, disconnect all interconnects from the subwoofer amplifier. If still hums, call or email technical support. You have a problem with other equipment.

Element Electronics — FAQThis noise is normal and within the FCC standard for acoustic noise standard. The noise should be within the allotted 30dB/A level for audio. If you think the noise is excessive, call the Element Electronics technical support line. There is nothing wrong with your television. You must go into your TVâ??s menu, and then go to TV Setup -> TV System -> Cable -> STD -> Channel Scan. Once you have done this, you should have a good image.

_7This is probably the fuel pump which is located inside the gas tank. It's a common noise, even among some 3rd gen owners. There's really not much which can be done about it with the exception of replacing the pump and hoping you get a quieter one.

Disconnect the input jacks and see if the light goes out (this may take up to 10 minutes). If the light goes out, then check to see if the CATV (TV cable) is connected to the processor upstream. The shield of the cable may not be well grounded and as a result it may be passing a tiny bit of voltage down the line to your subwoofer.

_7It most likely is the dashboard. As your driving over bumps, press on it and see if the noise stops. If so, your best bet is take it to the dealer to be fixed. If you feel comfortable taking apart the dash yourself, you'll see Dual-Lock (velcro) fasteners/adhesive tape which attach to the dash. The adhesive on the fastener has probably come unstuck. Try pressing it back down or touching it up with some fresh adhesive/glue. Also be sure to check the parking brake release button.
