How big are the houses and how old are they?

Frequently Asked Questions
I get this one a lot. OK, can you tell me when in the History of Baltimore did a group of people get together and get to know each other and basically formed a neighborhood association without a neighborhood? Then these same people all at once purchased homes on the same block and then all at once moved in together to create instant change. These same people went out of their way to get to know current neighbors and stabilize the area. This is what we are doing.

Q: How can I fix the hardbox around houses and other big objects?

D-Mod Author's FAQ Revision 1.3
A: You'll notice that the hardbox around things like houses just doesn't do the job. Hardboxes have to be rectangular, and things like houses are too complex for this to work. There are at least three methods to "fill in" the hardness around a house. It's probably best to set its hardness type to 1 (not hard) and totally draw the hardness yourself as explained below. I use a combination of the first two usually.

IS IT OK TO USE MODERN MATERIALS IN OLD HOUSES?

Frequently asked questions
Yes and no: it depends on what you're talking about. If it means replacing the original timber windows with modern metal-framed windows the answer is no. If it means crafting new parts for a timber window to carefully restore the damaged or decayed original the answer is yes. Keep as much of the original fabric of a building as possible. Not necessarily. It won't cost any more to use the appropriate materials in the appropriate way than it does to use the wrong materials in the wrong way.

IS IT WRONG TO MAKE MAJOR CHANGES TO OLD HOUSES?

Frequently asked questions
Old houses have always been changed and always will be. If changes are made in the manner and with the materials of the original structure, with respect for a building's place in the streetscape, then there is no reason for complaint. We do need 'house museums', with buildings preserved as if in aspic and open for public inspection.

What is the history of the old police station and attached houses on Bulford road, Tidworth?

Wiltshire County Council - Wiltshire Community History Wilts...
am looking for information on the history of 103 Fisherton Street in Salisbury and if it was built with relation to the railway station in the 1800s. Any information on the origins of the building at all would be very interesting. There was a railway engine on the GWR No. 4964 named RODWELL HALL, I assume this was after Rodwell Hall at Hilperton Trowbridge. Do you hold any details as to the age of this building and if it still exists or any other interesting facts.

How old is my computer?

S-100 FAQ
Look at the small IC chips on the boards of your computer. They are called the "TTL logic chips". Most of them will have numbers on them like "7404" "74121" and other "74 series" numbers. Some memory chips will be small but not have those numbers. There are generally date codes on most IC chips, usually in the form "wwyy" where ww is the week from 00 to 52, and yy is the year: 74, 75, 76, etc. Or it may be "yyww". So "2776" or "7622" will be the 26th week of 1976 for instance.

Why do so many houses seem unfinished?

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions about Crete
This question addresses two issues: houses that look unfinished and houses that are unfinished and maybe have stood so for a long time. In the first instance the houses may LOOK unfinished because iron bars stick on top of the roofs. This is absolutely not to avoid paying property tax (as the legend has it) but to simplify the building of another floor in some distant future. A house could also BE unfinished because the owners are waiting for finances to continue with the building.

Why do light-colored houses and cars have more problems than darker cars and houses?

Artillery Fungus- Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
In nature, the artillery fungus shoots its spores towards the light. In the absence of direct sunlight, it shoots the spores at highly reflective surfaces, such as white house siding. And, of course, the black spots show up better on white surfaces, so they are noticed more easily. This is a tough question. Wider recognition and awareness of the artillery fungus by the public certainly has led to a perceived increase in the problem.
