Participants need have only very basic Email and Web browsing skills to participate. You will spend a lot of time online. The faster and more reliable your Internet connection, the more efficiently you will be able to move through the assigned tasks.

The Practical Journalistic Writing Skills course is perfect for someone who wants to get a feeling for what journalism is all about, but does not want to attend classes, or is not based in one of the cities in which our courses are taught. The Practical Journalistic Writing Skills course gives you an opportunity to study at your own pace over the period of one year.

The University provides math and writing labs to all students. They are staffed by upper-class students majoring in math and English. The math lab is open on a drop-in basis whereas the writing lab is available both for drop-ins and by appointment. These services are held in different locations on campus and thus a student with a disability must be highly motivated and independent enough to follow through with using these resources.

Writing skills are more important for fiction than for non-fiction. It helps to know how to develop complex, three-dimensional characters for example. But there are plenty of shortcuts you can take so you can still achieve great results. For example there are the writing engines on the ideas4writers web site that will develop characters and complex storylines for you. I discuss several other shortcuts in the book, and highlight the exact skills that it would be useful for you to learn.

GROUP STUDY is set up for these specific classes and tutors will be available to ONLY students registered for those classes. GROUP STUDY is also an opportunity to get together with other students in your class to work on homework, study for exams, etc. Tutors are there to answer questions as needed and can help facilitate studying. DROP-IN Centers are another option however if you are unavailable during the GROUP STUDY tutorials.

Absolutely! The PharmacyTrainer course recognizes the fact that most students have been out of school for a while, and it may have been some time since the student was in a math class. We start off the process with basic math functions that relate to the practice of pharmacy. Fractions, Decimals, and Roman Numerals are taught to give a firm foundation to the more complex math calculations to come. We then progress through necessary skills needed to tackle the most complex pharmacy calculations.

Learning Support Services is partnered with a number of different academic support services. The advantage of our service is that rather than going from place to place across campus, you can get answers to all your questions at one convenient location. Learning Support Services offers workshops and drop-in sessions led by experts from Career Development and Co-operative Education, , the First Year Experience Office, the Student Academic Success Centre, and the Writing Tutorial Service.

Answer: Students taking e-Learning classes are more likely to be successful if they possess the following technology skills before starting their e-Learning classes: Know how to connect to the Internet and use web browser software to locate information on the Internet. Know how to create and manage folders on a computer, including finding, uploading, downloading, and saving individual files. Know how to manage security settings on your computer through the Internet browser software and firewall.

Shifting from high school to college demands may be an adjustment for some students (see number 3, above). The Academic Center in L-288 offers free tutoring and workshops on time management, note-taking, and other skills.

Statistics 200 (or its equivalency) needs to be successfully completed prior to the second semester of the nursing courses at MSU. Statistics courses that are equivalent to STAT 200 at MSU require college algebra as a prerequisite. You will need to take a college algebra course as a prerequisite (the college algebra course can count as an elective if you need to take it).

The program's Academic Coordinator is always willing to review plans in draft form and offer suggestions for possible revision. In fact, many students take advantage of this help, and may write several drafts before submitting a final copy to the Faculty Advisory Committee.

You will participate in group study sessions several nights a week and also have an individual tutor that you meet with regularly. If you need extra help beyond the support that the R.E.A.C.H Program provides, we can assist you in finding a tutor by posting a job on the university website, contacting a local school for tutor recommendations, or referring you to a local educational support agency.

If the course work is from another institution, please contact our Admissions Office and request a transfer credit evaluation review form. This course is taught entirely online through the Blackboard Coursesites system. You do not need to have exceptional computer skills, as the Blackboard system is fairly easy to navigate. You do need to have a reliable computer and internet connection, and a relatively up-to-date internet browser such as Internet Explorer (for Blackboard compatibility with various internet browsers, click here).

If you have ever changed the oil and spark plugs in your car (for example) and have at least some working knowledge of how to use wrenches and sockets, you should be able to function well at our classes.

We recommend your staff use both programs. The Electronic Writing Course teaches staff how to write clearly; StyleWriter puts theory into practice. In one organization they tested both programs. However, those using StyleWriter after working through the Electronic Writing Course saw their writing style improve by 50 to 90 percent.
