Unfortunately, no. You will need a wood pellet stove but if you don’t already have one, the savings you will realize in heating your home will more than pay for the stove. Some companies do offer converters which may be placed in fireplace inserts. Please check with your local hardware store or on the web to see if this option will work for you.

Please make sure the flue is open before starting fire. NEVER remove hot ashes or partially burned loges. Please leave the ashes in the fireplace even if you are sure they are cold. It's easier to build a fire with a bed of ashes. If it becomes absolutely necessary to remove the cold ashes, use a metal container only. (Anything flammable, such as a paper bag or cardboard box, even if you are positive the ashes are cold, is extremely dangerous.

Carefully open the damper and, using a flashlight, look up the flue for signs of a build-up along the walls. Goggles are suggested for this. If the build-up is ¼" or more, a cleaning is needed.

If you are using the wood flooring plans that we have provided, we recommend that you create a rock or sand hearth to put your stove on. To install your stove on the hearth, follow manufacturer’s instructions and local building codes. Each dome is equipped with a metal stove flashing. The piping will run from your stove through the flashing and above your dome. All of the piping that is used in association with the stove should be double walled pipe.

The Vent-Free Series units can sit on a wood floor. However, most wood burning Isokern fireplaces cannot. The one exception to this, is the Fire-Lite Series. Please consult your local sales representative or dealer for proper fireplace selection and placement. Vented gas logs can be used with the Standard, Magnum and Patio Series fireplace systems. These gas logs range from 50,000 BTU to 100,000 BTU maximum. The Vent-Free Series specifies the use of AGA listed 'vent-free' log sets.

Blowers are optional on most heat circulating (grilles on top and bottom of fireplace) units, and some hearth products the blower is standard. Adding a blower is easily accomplished if power (110 VAC) was provided to the electrical junction box of the fireplace at the time of initial installation. No. If the fireplace is designed for use only with gas, this is a very bad idea. The fireplace is not designed to withstand a wood fire. And the gas jets are not meant to come in contact with ash. This is a real fire hazard. It's possible your fireplace was originally a wood burning fireplace and has been converted to gas. In that case, it can be converted back. But you shouldn't burn would in it until that's happened.

Yes, you can install a wood fireplace in a mobile home. However, the fireplace you install must have been specifically approved for mobile home applications (Canada & USA). The fireplace must also be hooked-up to a fresh air intake that enables combustion air to come from outside the house. Osburn freestanding stoves model 1000, 1100, 1600, 1800, 2200, and 2400 are approved for installation in a mobile home. You need to purchase a fresh air kit, which can be found in the accessories section.

If you have a fully operational fireplace, whether masonry or pre-fab, it would normally be as simple as removing the gas logs & capping the gas line or installing a gas log lighter. But with today's new appliances, direct vent & ventless units would not be set up for solid fuel (wood) & could not be converted to wood burning.

Nope, the fireplaces are gas and on a thermostat. They serve as the main heat source for the cabins in the winter so they are not operational in the summer. Our fireplaces are so efficient that the heat they produce just from keeping the pilot light on would be unpleasant in the summer time. (We do have A/C and back-up electric heat as well!) The grill is gas and propane is provided.
