For the characters to create shadows the scene lights must be set to Raytrace. If the lights are set to Raytrace and are positioned so that they are essentially perpendicular to the long side of the plane, then reasonable approximations of shadows can be made.

What can I tell you? I don't really know anything, except it's great, and I wish I had one just like it. I hope to find out more about the Book of Shadows, and if I do, it will end up on the site. If we use the default geometry of Forest, the trees are created with single planar faces, its projected shadow has the same form. This problem only exists if we use lights with 'Shadow Map' selected. With 'Raytrace Shadow' selected in the Shadow Parameters rollout, the projection for opacity mapped objects is resolved correctly, but the render time is longer.

Shadows can not be directly animated as objects itself, but by animation of the shapes and the light sources that are involved in their creation. Animation can coursed by transformation of shapes or light sources and deformation or morphing of shapes.

It depends on different issues. The main important thing is that a light source owns an extension. The bigger the light source extension is the bigger is the penumbra of the created shadow. This property is adjustable in the existing tool. Other issues are the distances between the light source, occluder and receiver. Subdivision surfaces allow defining smooth surfaces with a very limited number of control points, i.e. a very rough base mesh that has a limited number of triangles.

This depends on your renderer. They either create raytraced shadows (like e.g. BMRT) or use so called "shadow maps" (like e.g. Aqsis). For BMRT, it is sufficient to switch on the "Shadows" attribute of the light object (plus, since BMRT 2.6, the object onto which the shadow is casted must have atleast the "matte" surface shader assigned, which is guaranteed by Ayam unless you switched the default material to "none").

Positioning the lighting correctly can eliminate most, if not all, shadows. Placing the lights equidistant to the object and at about a 45 degree angle will help reduce shadows. Once the images have been captured, it is easy to remove shadows using Photoshop or other image editing software.

We, the Fraternity of Shadows took our name from a (cool) secret society of evil Ravenloft scholars. Our group, fictitiously set in the domain of Richemulot, is composed of persons previously from two different netbook editing team (the Undead Sea Scrolls and Quoth the Raven). The two teams decided to join their efforts just days prior to Halloween 2003.

The GLUT 3.7 distribution comes with examples that demonstrate how to do this using projection shadows and the stencil buffer. Projection shadows are ideal if your shadow is only to lie on a planar object. You can generate geometry of the shadow using glFrustum() to transform the object onto the projection plane. Stencil buffer shadowing is more flexible, allowing shadows to lie on any object, planar or otherwise. The basic algorithm is to calculate a "shadow volume".

That's probably because your shadow mesh isn't closed. If that's the case, a bug/limit in SA causes odd projection errors, with shadow triangles floating around. So always make sure your shadow mesh doesn't have any holes.

You would use your complimentary color system to soften a shadow. We refer to it as graying a color. For example, a purplish shadow would be grayed or softened with its compliment of yellow - blue with orange, red with green, etc. Check your complement on a color wheel. This will solve your problem. Yes, Liquin is thick and it will weaken the pigment of your paint. You should only use a few drops in your mixtures.
