Look in /usr/local (or /share/apps on the Rocks machines) for a bunch of software that you can use, including different versions of GCC, the Java SDK, LAM, MPICH, and more. To use this software, either refer to the software by it's full path or edit your .cshrc file and change your PATH environment variable (search google or consult your closest Linux expert). Alternatively, you can use the module program to set your environment up for you. Type module help for a list of help commands.
