The World Poker Tour premieres on Travel Channel Sunday, March 30, 2003 at 7pm ET/PT and continue every Wednesday night at 9pm ET/PT beginning April 2, 2003. The series culminates with a $25,000 buy-in championship on June 25, 2003.

A misconception exists that if a poker tournament is for charity, or the prizes are donated, the charity could charge for the event. Such an event would still be illegal under Colorado law because the three elements of gambling listed above are present.

Scheduled - these are tournaments scheduled by JamPoker.com to start at a specific time. JamPoker.com Freerolls can be found under the scheduled tab. Sit 'n' Go - These are tournaments that will only start once the required number of players has been reached. Registered Sit 'n' Go tournaments are usually single table tournaments. Satellites - These are tournaments that 'feed' winners into bigger tournaments.

Tournament play is not rated. To qualify for the poker rate, players must average a minimum of 4 hours or more, on any live poker game, prior to getting a poker reservation.
