Question: I think I found a bug. What information should I send to the developers with my bug?

Salsa FAQ
Answer: It's best to send a description of the problem you encountered, what you were trying to accomplish, and the code you used to generate the bug. Please don't hard code UANs or UALs and it is very helpful if programs output usage information or are well commented. Please send the problem to salsadev@cs.rpi.edu. Generally we will try to reproduce your problem and recommend a workaround if possible.

I think I've found a bug - how do I report it?

FAQ - Q4MAX
The first thing to do is to check the bugs forum, since its possible someone else has already reported it. If so, we may have a work around - and if so, the solution will have been posted there. Next thing to do is to create a thread in the bugs forum. Please describe in as much detail as you can what is wrong, and what was happening when you saw it. Check your console for an error message - often there will be one there.

I think I have found a bug in TNOS, what should I do?

TNOS Installation
Here are some points from Brian Lantz that should be read and digested before you send your 'bug' report to the Tnos-Topics mailing list :-) DO give as detailed a description as possible, indicating what actions/commands you used, the order used, the given output (if any), and the expected results. DO use the trace function for the feature you are having a problem/question with, if there is one available. DON'T even bother with a report if all you can say is "it don't work!".

I think I found a bug, how do I report it?

The linux-kernel mailing list FAQ
ADB) A bug differs very slightly from an oops, actually. An oops is when the kernel detects that something has gone wrong. A bug is when something (in the kernel, presumably) doesn't behave the way it should, either with a driver or in some kernel algorithm. If you can detect this misbehaviour, you may or may not be getting an oops. Perhaps the most important step is to determine under which conditions this misbehaviour can be triggered, and whether it is reproducible.

Always use the current cvs version of your language file. For a new language, start from english.inc.php3. If you don't know how to get the cvs version, please ask one of the developers. You can then put your translations, as a zip file to avoid losing special characters, on the sourceforge.net translation tracker. It would be a good idea to subscribe to the phpmyadmin-translators mailing list, because this is where we ask for translations of new messages.

It really depends on the kind of bug you found. TYT) Please follow general good bug reporting guidelines: remember, the developers don't have access to your system, and they're not mind readers. Tell us which kernel version, and what your hardware is (if you're not sure, more detail is better than less).
