The Music Engineering (MUE) Graduate program does not have your "conventional" research-for-funding that other engineering graduate schools might have. This is mostly because we want your thesis and research to be completely up to you, and not dictated by some company that is funding you. There is a pretty broad range of areas that the math department is involved in. Algebra, Analysis, Topology, Geometry, Number Theory, Logic, Combinatorics, Wavelets and Signal Processing. There are also people who are willing to supervise students in any of these areas. Some areas that currently are not represented are Algebraic Geometry and Complex Analysis.

Graduate students currently in the program meet regularly in informal social settings. In addition to the more formal monthly forums on topics of interest for graduate students and students can go to social activities, arranged by faculty or other graduate students.
