Converters will not eliminate the interference because you would still use the provided FM stations on the converter. The only way to eliminate or reduce interference is to find an FM frequency that is not being used locally and/or is not a frequency close to a used frequency of a powerful local station. A powerful local station will "bleed over" or interfere onto the satellite signal if the station frequency is too close to the frequency chosen for satellite reception.
