We recommend at least 1.3 megapixels or 1280 by 960 resolution. Lower resolution cameras work just fine with Whiteboard Photo, but you may have to take multiple pictures of a whiteboard or blackboard to capture the entire contents.

CopyCam has approximately the resolution of a 3.5-megapixel digital camera across the whiteboard surface. Yes! A Microsoft Windows application is provided on the CD-ROM that allows you to create a floppy diskette that CopyCam can read. You can change all one-time settings by using such a floppy diskette. This very much depends on what you are using your images for. For Internet use you only need low resolution images whereas, when printing a brochure you will need much higher resolution images. There's been a little bit of debate on this in the forum, and I think that some of this is up to personal opinion, but I see one right way to do it (personally). It depends. Are you going to view images on a computer monitor? If so you will only need 1024 x 768 or about 3/4 of a Megapixel. Are you going to print the images? Only good quality photos can make it onto our labels. Color and black and white photos are both acceptable. Save your photo as a .JPG in RGB image mode (not CMYK).
