However, because the color runs throughout the entire thickness, scratches and cuts can be removed and the surface restored to new condition. While Solid Surface sinks are extremely tough and durable, like any fine material it can be damaged if abused or mistreated.

For minor surface scratches we recommend using a Grey Scotch-Brite Pad. Buff entire surface of the countertop in a circular motion. Buffing select areas will cause the finish to look uneven, so make sure you do the entire countertop surface. For more severe scratches and deep gouges, we recommend having the top professionally sanded. We work with a vacuum sander to keep the mess to a minimum and can usually complete the job in a couple hours.

Everything is relative. Solid surface is not an expensive product when viewed as a lifetime material. Solid surface will never need to be replaced and since it is repairable one need not worry about having to replace it due to damage (except in the most extreme cases).

A topmount sink has a lip that folds over the countertop and is therefore resting on top of the countertop cutout. Fasteners securely mount an undermount sink underneath the countertop so that a polished edge of granite, marble, etc. is exposed above the sink. An undermount sink cutout requires more polishing and installation labor than a topmount sink cutout and is therefore a more expensive option.
