I can???t remember the titles but the first couple were by Alistair MacLean, where he had a UN team (anticrime/terror etc.) as his protagonists. I am inspired mainly by musicians (see link on next question) and other writers. I most admire Joss Whedon, the screenwriter of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly, and John Truby, another Hollywood script doctor.

I admire many artists. I am especially attracted to the time period of the early 1900's, and the influence of the Art Nouveau style. I love the work of J.W. Waterhouse, and I'm sure you can see the influence of Gustav Klimt in my own artwork. Alfonse Mucha, Maxfield Parrish, and Howard Pyle are all favorites. I am astonished by works of Lord Frederick Leighton, and Lawrence Alma-Tadema. I marvel at those masterpieces created by William Bouguereau, they simply take my breath away.

Our inspiration comes from the little things we do everyday. We have focussed on simple gestures and we have tried to translate them into our pieces. one time or another, we have each wondered about where to put a screw, a rubber band, a pen, a penny, or a button. And we always end up putting it somewhere that we are somehow unable to recall afterwards! When Jean comes home from work, he always empties his pockets on the nearest piece of furniture or into a vase.

Luckily my parents played classical LPs in our Dundee flat from the moment I was born (6 Jan 1965). One of their earliest recollections of me is as a ‘terrible two year old, bouncing manically’ on my bed in time to Sullivan’s ‘The Gondoliers’.
