How long is an orbit? How long is an eclipse? How long is an observations?
GALEX Archive at STScIGALEX orbits the earth every 98.6 minutes (November 2003). Approximately 1/3 of this time is spent in eclipse, defined as the sun being below the depressed horizon. The actual time available for an eclipse observation is less, and is determined by a combination of observational constraints (sun angle, zenith angle, location of SAA, moon angle) and the observation initiation sequence, which starts with a slew from solar pointing solar arrays to the final target pointing and roll angle (twist).

Related QuestionsWhat is SOHO's orbit?
SOHOSOHO is in orbit between the Earth and the Sun. It is about 150,703,456 kilometers (92 million miles) from the Sun and only about 1,528,483 Kilometers (1 million miles) from the Earth (three times farther than the moon). This orbit is around a mathematical point between the Earth and the Sun known as the Lagrange point or the L1 point. The L1 point is a point of equilibrium between the Earth's and Sun's gravitational field, that is to say that the pull is equal from both the Sun and the Earth.
Related QuestionsHow long will orbital debris remain in Earth orbit?
NASA Orbital Debris FAQsThe higher the altitude, the longer the orbital debris will typically remain in Earth orbit. Debris left in orbits below 600 km normally fall back to Earth within several years. At altitudes of 800 km, the time for orbital decay is often measured in decades. Above 1,000 km, orbital debris will normally continue circling the Earth for a century or more.
Related QuestionsSo exactly how long does it take the moon to orbit the Earth?
Moon FAQ (MMSD)Answer: This explanation can be a bit confusing, so have patience. The moon takes 27 1/3 days to orbit the earth once, but the number of days between one full moon and the next full moon is 29 1/2 days. Why are these two "moonths" not the same? The answer has to do with the Earth and moon relationship to the sun.

Name a Star - Register a star - Personalized anniversary gif...The length of orbital stay depends on the final altitude of the primary satellite launched on the mission. Space Services' spacecraft is a “secondary payload” aboard each mission.
