What is a Fat Quarter and why are you named that... ?

Fat Quarters Software & Electronics ::. FAQ's
How much time do you have??. No, really a Fat Quarter is a sewing term. Fabric on a bolt is many yards long and ~44 inches wide, usually folded in half. So a yard of fabric is 36 inches long by 44 inches wide. A quarter yard would be 9 inches long by 44 inches wide. You can't do much with that so a FAT QUARTER YARD is 18 inches long by 22 inches wide. One of Laurie's first development projects was for the local quilt guild, and she does sew.... so she picked that name for the company.

Easy Quilt Kits? FAQ Page
While a regular quarter yard of fabric is 9" wide and 44" long, a "fat" quarter is the same amount of fabric cut "fat". Fat quarters are twice as wide (18") but only half as long (22"). It's a little more versatile and the perfect size for those little bits you need for quilting projects.

What is a fat quarter?

Frequently Asked Questions
A fat quarter is 1/4 yard of fabric. But instead of cutting a long skinny piece that's 9" by 44", we cut it more square, so it's 18" by 22". This is a more useable piece for most uses, especially if the fabric has large motifs on it, which would be cut in half by the skinny strips.

FAQ's
A fat quarter is a half-yard (18") piece of fabric that is cut again along the fold line. Depending on the width of the fabric, the fat quarter will be 22-23 inches by 18 inches. A thin quarter is a nine-inch piece of fabric cut straight from the bolt and is about 44" by 9". A fat quarter is the smallest piece of fabric I sell, so it's not possible to order half of a fat quarter.

Christian Fighter Pilot FAQ
There is probably no fighter pilot tradition that carries as much peer pressure as the Naming. It is the very means by which a fighter pilot "receives" his callsign. Some Christians have participated in Namings (on both the receiving and giving sides) and others have also refused to do so. There is no simple, single answer. For insight, see the Naming section of the article on Fighter Pilot Traditions and One Pilot's Naming Experience.

Not exactly. "Corwin" is a name that we have encountered primarily in fiction, but we didn't name him after any particular fictional character (although Joshua is fond of the character by that name from Roger Zelazny's Amber series). "Alexander", however, was chosen in part as a tribute to our friend Alex.

Chubby FAQ
I find this question pretty interesting. Some people really think they are in one weight category when they are really in a very different one, be it more or less. A doctor is the best person to determine whether you have a weight problem. Doctors measure your weight and height and given your age and growth patterns, he would assess where you stand from that perspective. The next best way I know (for adults only) is to calculate your BMI, the body mass index.
