Frequently Asked Questions

How many people are on the Grapevine?

FAQ
It is always upwards from 2.000 active members with new members coming in all the time and existing members leaving. We continually take on more people than we lose. We don’t aim to ‘collect’ members which is why we have only three month membership periods. We want to minimise the numbers of people who may have become ‘too busy’, or who may have ‘met someone’ without letting us know.

FAQ's :: Grapevine Magazine
No way! It’s a FAMILY magazine, plain and simple. And people who think (or wish) Grapevine is (or should be) ‘religious’ – or anything else it’s not – are usually disappointed. The Keepers of the Vine share a big concern for family life in this country. And (to varying degrees) we share a spiritual faith – which is reflected in some of the items that appear in Grapevine’s ‘Stillpoint’ pages.

Why aren't Grapevine lists free as well as registration?

FAQ
One reason is as mentioned previously, that paying a sum of money encourages some sort of commitment. We don’t want our members to be ‘messed about’ more than we can help it. The other reason is the cost of advertising and administration! Grapevine is not a charity. There are free dating sites if that is all someone wants. One of the main ways we recruit new members who are not on the internet, and bring people who are on the 'net to our site, is through newspaper advertising.

FAQ
Grapevine is the only UK PERSONAL dating agency operating online. No members details are to be found anywhere online. The only way a member can receive other members' details is if it is emailed to them personally. This is intentional because members are accountable and they are traceable. We like to think that it is safer for our members and they are less likely to be messed around. back to top

V33: HOW CAN I TELL IF A GRAPEVINE IS MALE, FEMALE OR BOTH?

The Viticulture FAQ
Very much like a San Francisco streetwalker, the sex of a grapevine can only be determined during a very short window of opportunity. Specifically, one needs to look very closely at the grape flower structure within a few day of the fall of the cap. A male flower (staminate): Will have 5 upright, straight stamens each carrying 5 anthers (pollen sacs). The stamen/anther combinations look very much like the spokes of a jack (from a ball & jack game).

How come I don’t get Grapevine in my letterbox?

But most likely it’s because your street HASN’T GOT A STREET SPONSOR (i.e. nobody’s sponsoring deliveries down your road or rural delivery route). Which probably also means that your neighbours are missing out, too.

Do they only bite people?

BioSensory, Inc. - Frequently Asked Questions about our mosq...
People and animals are not the primary target for mosquitoes, especially in temperate climates. The major mosquito pests in the southeastern U.S., for example, seem to prefer the host-odor of small herbivorous (vegetarian) mammals, or birds. Even mosquitoes that carry encephalitis seem to prefer avian (bird) hosts. These mosquitoes bite people when they get the chance, but they are better at tracking the scent of animals that are most abundant in their habitat.
