Influenza is a virus, which causes respiratory tract infections (lungs, throat and nose). There are two types of influenza; influenza A and influenza B. In young, healthy people, influenza is not a serious infection, although people with it may feel miserable for several days. In people over the age of 65 years, and those with chronic heart or lung disease, it causes more severe symptoms and may be complicated by congestive heart failure, pneumonia, or an asthmatic attack.

Influenza is transmitted by droplet spread. When someone who is infected coughs or sneezes, the virus is released into the air and falls on anything within about 4 feet. Anyone close to them can become infected, by breathing in the virus. With a top-down shade, when the shade is open, the fabric stacks at the bottom of the window opening rather than at the top. A partially open top-down shade allows light through the upper part of the window. This style is popular in situations where privacy is an issue.

With a top-down/bottom-up shade, the shade cloth can stack (fold up) either at the top as standard shades do, at the bottom as top-down shades do, or at any point in between. This is a very versatile design. We highly recommend a valance to cover the lifting system hardware. You may use any standard laundry detergent or bleach products designed for use in home washing machines. Please be sure to carefully read and follow the instructions provided by the detergent or bleach manufacturer. Only use the amount of cleaning product recommended by the manufacturer.

Although the fabrics used in the top are pre-shrunk, the top may fit more tightly across the sleep surface after the first washing. Each claim will be considered on a case-by-case basis. In general the top will need to experience a considerable amount of shrinkage to justify replacement. The mattress will not be replaced due to issues with the top. Washing instructions are printed on the back of the model name label sewn to the lower right side of the HealthSmart™ Bed and HealthSmart™ Bed Replacement Tops.

The HealthSmart™ Bed Top must be washed separately. This will prevent damage to the top from other items that may snag or tear the fabric. Washing separately will also prevent the washing machine from becoming overloaded. All sizes and models of the replacement top may be dry-cleaned, commercially laundered or machine-washed in a larger capacity front load washer at home.
