The Forest Service has very limited funding with which to fulfill its mission. By using concessionaires to operate and maintain developed recreation areas it frees appropriated funds to be used on much needed other projects in the forests. Blackwoods Campground - Reservations are required at Blackwoods from May 1 through October 31. From December 1 to March 31, Blackwoods is open for primitive, walk-in camping only. Seawall Campground - Sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Seawall is generally open from the Wednesday before Memorial Day to September 30. Duck Harbor Campground on Isle au Haut is open May 15 - October 15. Reservations are by mail only after April 1.

There are a number of reasons for travel restrictions within the national forests. When you encounter restrictions, please consider the protection being given the land and resources. Routes previously open to off-highway vehicle use have been closed, and new routes have been designated for this type of recreational use. Fortunately, beach closures due to unacceptable levels of pollution are rare. In 1992, Agat Bay North was closed due to a broken sewage outfall following Supertyphoon Omar. Similarly, West Agana Bay was closed after Supertyphoon Pongsona due to a damaged sewer outfall. More commonly, fecal coliform counts are not at sufficiently high levels to mandate closures but are high enough to issue "advisories." There are varying degrees of contamination.

Fires are only allowed in campgrounds with fire rings. Campgrounds with fire rings are: Belle Isle, Caribou Island*, Chippewa Harbor, Duncan Bay, Duncan Narrows, Island Mine, Little Todd, Malone Bay, McCargoe Cove*, Siskiwit Bay* and Todd Harbor* (* indicates a community fire ring).

There is potable water at spigots only at Rock Harbor and Windigo. At all of the designated campgrounds there is a source of water but, it need to be filtered or boiled. See "water" under the "General Information" section of this FAQ for more details.

You may camp outside of developed campgrounds in most parts of the Forest, at no cost. Potable water, toilets, and other amenities are not generally available. If you choose to camp outside developed areas, be sure to bring adequate water or be prepared to purify spring water before drinking. Water on the Stanislaus National Forest may be contaminated with Giardia or other microorganisms.

Your canine companions traditionally have been welcome. The few rules that apply to dogs are meant to assure that you and other National Forest visitors have an enjoyable outdoor recreation experience. During the day keep your dog on a leash no more than six feet long, or otherwise restrict its freedom to roam at will. It is suggested to not bring dogs onto developed swimming beaches, even if they are restrained.

Public campgrounds are generally less expensive than privately owned places. The location is also an important factor, e.g. a campground near Yosemite National Park will probably charge higher fees than a little place in the countryside

The campgrounds open Thursday, September 6th at 8:00 a.m. Please be prepared when you are checking in by having your campsite sticker and tickets for everyone in your vehicle out and ready. You will turn in your festival ticket when you check in to the campground.

Yes. With the purchase of your Campground Vehicle Reservation, you will know in advance which campground entrance to use. All campgrounds will open at 10:00am on Wed. 7/18/07.

There will be bathrooms (mainly Porto-Johns), hand wash stations, potable water, real showers and 24-hour security/medical. Ice will be available at several locations throughout the campgrounds and from a roving truck. A water and pumper truck for RV services will be available during daylight hours for a small fee.

Campground facilities vary greatly dependant on many factors, however a partial list of facilities commonly found at many campgrounds would include: electric and water, washing machines and dryers, swimming pools, recreation rooms, playgrounds, and on-site convenience stores.

How quickly a campground fills depends on several factors including: holidays, weekends, accessibility and the weather. Ranger station personnel where the campground is located will be able to advise you about availability.

We have three campgrounds that have electrictiy. They are House Creek and McPhee around the dam and Mavreeso Campground up the West Dolores. An additional two dollars will be charged

The prices are on all campgrounds the same. The only difference between the campgrounds is their location. You can find an overview of the campgrounds on this map. Beside Camping Aqua is the only campsite at the Hungaroring that is open the whole year, therefore offers the best infrastructure.

In addition to regular protection by the Walnut Creek Police Department, Rossmoor residents are protected by Rossmoor's 24-hour security service, including regular vehicle patrols. There are no armed guards at Rossmoor because Rossmoor is not a "walled city" but rather a limited access community. An evening stroll on a warm night is a regular feature of Rossmoor's secure community. Residents receive a car identification for immediate passage through the security entrance.
