First of all you have to make sure you really need a script. Scripting is not difficult but if you simply want to auto-op your friends on your IRC channel, or if you want to ban or ignore an annoying person, mIRC is perfectly equipped already with functions that do exactly what you want. In this case read the section about the auto-op, protect and ignore lists.

The list is maintained by IBMWR volunteers. The current version of The Marketplace (3.0) was developed by Mark Ketchum, a long time list subscriber.

If you encounter a problem dealing with someone, We would like to hear about it. Contact an administrator and let us know about it. We may not be able to resolve it, but we sure will try to.

Events are all things happening on channels or in private conversations on IRC. People joining, leaving, getting opped, deopped, greeting you, even plain talking all are Events... You can configure mIRC to react however you like to almost anything that can happen in IRC. See the mIRC help file for further instructions and read the tutorial in section 7 at the end of this FAQ. Of course, specifying the address is the safer option. Wildcards are supported, such as "2:*!gates@pentium.company.

In mIRC, you can make yourself invisible with: "/mode {your_nickname} +i". The title of the STATUS window will show (+i) after your current nickname. If you change nick, you will remain invisible under your new nick. Use "/mode {your_nickname} -i" to make yourself visible again. When you're invisible, you are always visible to all the people who are on the same channel(s) as you are. When you join a new channel (while invisible), everyone in the channel sees you joining.

The table of contents (TOC) is automatically shown once there are four or more headings in the article. The are multiple ways to hide it. Edit the CSS files; locate the style for the table of contents and add display: none; to the definition. Users can also opt to have the table of contents hidden. This is a user preference, set in Special:Preferences.

A TOC is added automatically as soon as you have more than three headers. To add one with fewer than four headers, type __FORCETOC__ anywhere on the page or __TOC__ at the position where you want to have the TOC. To remove a table of contents from a page, add __NOTOC__ to anywhere on the page. The __ character before the commands is two _ characters together See Help:Section for more information.

It's not that we are elitist, it's just that we don't have the time or money to try to be all things to all people. Actually, many IBMWR members own and ride bikes other than Beemers. It is not supported or endorsed by BMW AG, BMW NA, or any other organization or club in any way.

Starting at the top of the Form, read and follow the instructions for each input box. Read some existing Ads to get ideas for making your Ad attract attention. When you place an Ad, be honest and don't misrepresent your product or yourself. If we obtain information that leads us to conclude that you are misrepresenting the item(s) you want to sell or have provided false information about yourself, we will pull your ad and ban you from further use of the service.

There are several reasons why your Ad may not show up in the Marketplace. Ads must contain Your Name and E-Mail Address, and a Price if it is a "For Sale" Ad. "For Sale" Ads Posted without a Price will not be posted. If you post it as "best offer" or "negotiable" great, but you still have to price it. No exceptions.

Motorcycle Consumer News maintains a Used Bike Value Guide, that includes a BMW Resale Values Page that lists the current value of most models of BMW's. Classifieds2000 also runs a listing. You might want to cruise their Motorcycles Ads. It might also be a good idea to lookup Ads here at the Marketplace, and at the above sites, that are similar to your item, and note the prices.

Anyone, as long as you are not a Commercial Dealer or Vendor, you are welcome to place an Ad. Some very specialized vendors may place Ad's, if the items are hard to find, or the vendor is the only available source. Some Vintage Items are the best example of this type. Please contact the Editor in advance, before placing an ad of this type.

It exists primarily out of frustration with other venues for buying and selling BMW Motorcycle related items. Publications such as the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America's, "ON", or "Owners News", and the BMW Riders Association's "On The Level", provide an excellent Ad Section. However, most of the time when you call to inquire about an item listed, it has been sold or the person has already found an item they are looking for, and you just wasted a long distance phone call.

In 1997, Tom crashed and burned and Mike Nolan took over. Mike deserves lots of credit for his effort in the next couple of years. He revised the site, creating version 2.0. which allowed search, look-up, an email based update, and form-based submission of the Ads. In July of 2000, Mike decided to turn responsibility for the Marketplace over. The Admin Team made a decision to utilize a group of volunteers to help maintain the site.

The files for the Marketplace are stored on the IBMWR's web site server. All of the web pages are created "on the fly" by Perl based CGI scripts. The info you see on your browser is the most current ad content.

Click on the link for the category of interest, and the relevant Ads will be displayed. The "All Ads, All Categories" link often results in a very large download, so for your own convenience and to relieve load on the ibmwr server, please use the category links.

To place an Ad use the "Submit" link to call up the submission Form. Fill it out and hit the submit button ... voila! You will receive an email confirmation that your ad was received. Included in that email will be a Ad ID# number and password. Save this email because you will need the number and password it to delete your ad when your item(s) sell or if you wish to modify your ad in anyway. And please, if you have several things to sell, please don't try to cram it all in a single ad.

mIRC can react to CTCP commands given by other users. You can customize your responses to CTCP commands and offer files: features that usually require scripting but here are handled by the Tools/Remote/Commands section. It is this section in mIRC that can handle OPME, KICK, MYLEVEL, or XDCC SEND commands for you, if you configure it well. Setting up the remote section is not an easy task, but the way it works guarantees full freedom to make it do what you want it to do.

The Folio Views Infobase search engine provides the Reference Library with an interactive table of contents. To view the table of contents for the entire library, click on the "Contents" tab at the bottom of the screen. The Contents view is structured much like a Windows Explorer environment, allowing you to expand, or "drill down," by clicking on the plus signs to see more information. The scroll bar is a function of the Windows platform.

You can protect yourself from people who are flooding you with the automatic anti-flood system. Look in the File/Options/IRC/Flood/ section. A server usually disconnects you for sending too much data to it in a certain period of time, *or* if you try to send it data when it hasn't finished processing your previous data. The new flood protect makes sure -others- cant make you to send too much data to the server. Usually a server has a buffer of about 512 bytes.

One potential drawback to an Internet connection is that other Internet users could gain access to files and data residing on your PC. This can be prevented by establishing a security system such as a "firewall" or "proxy". A firewall usually consists of a UNIX machine that is placed between your PC and the Internet, and all traffic between you and the Internet must pass through that machine. So a firewall is not something included in mIRC, or something active on your PC.

Yes, but they have to work to get them. All the listed addresses are hidden by a JavaScript function, so a ROBOT or Crawler looking for E-Mail addresses to steal, cannot follow any of the standard Hyper-Links and find the E-Mail addresses that are posted in the ads. Spammers are usually too lazy (which is why they are spammers), to manually process E-mail addresses. The Marketplace is usually updated about once a day.
