We are introducing a weekly high school sports section called Varsity. This section will report on school sports in six different localities: Baltimore, Carroll, Howard, Arundel and Harford counties and Baltimore City. The section will be published Wednesdays, and readers will receive editions for the area in which they live.

WIAA (Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association) rules do not currently allow students to participate in sports at their local high schools. We are a good fit for students who participate in sports or other activities outside of school.

You are still a student of your high school, even if all your classes are here at SSCC. You should talk to your high school counselor regarding eligibility for sports, etc. A pre-enrollment form is required each quarter that you attend SSCC as a Running Start student. This will allow your high school counselor and college advisor to know that you are on track with your high school graduation requirements.

No. This course is all inclusive. It is a parent taught driver education course that is approved by the DPS. It allows the parent to teach their teen to drive. Everything you will need is included in the course. You will need to send off an application to the State of Texas to take a parent taught course. We'll provide that application and instructions on how to do this.

It is critical that a firefighter's mind, body, and spirit are able to operate at peak performance in a moment's notice. The nature of the occupation demands a great deal of physical strength and stamina. As such, firefighters are encouraged to spend approximately one hour each day (on and off duty) exercising.

Unfortunately, we don't have that kind of opportunity for young people seeking experience with the fire department, or for school-required volunteer projects.
