Yes. As part of your SBC Yahoo! DSL package, you also have access to unlimited nationwide dial-up Internet access. You can use the dial-up service whenever you travel or are away from your high-speed DSL connection. If you do not currently have a dial-up connection on your computer you need to download the SBC Yahoo! Dial Connection Manager software.

DSL technology takes advantage of your existing phone line. While regular phone calls are transferred at relatively low frequencies, DSL data is transmitted at much higher frequencies. Both types of transmissions can occur simultaneously, without interference. Voice and digital data are separated by a splitter placed in your home or office. The splitter sends voice transmissions to the telephone, and digital data transmissions to a DSL modem. Fax machines will operate as usual.

Traditional analog voice band modems use the same frequency band, 0-4 kilohertz (kHz), as telephone service, preventing concurrent voice and data use. Because the newer DSL modems operate at frequencies above the voice channel from 100 Khz to 1.1 Megahertz (MHz), POTS (plain old telephone service) and DSL data service concurrently.

Yes, effective as of April 2nd, 2007 ResNet now pro-rates for locations subject to a monthly charge (fraternities, sororities, and co-ops). Proration is at the daily level, so that users subscribed for less than a full month are billed based on the number of days they are subscribed, rather than for the full month. Please note that monthly charges currently apply only to non-bundled residences: Greek houses and co-ops.
