Why wind as my source of energy ?
FUTURENERGYThere is little doubt that global CO2 emissions have to be greatly reduced if we are to halt global warming. Wind energy produces more watts per euro invested than any other type of renewable energy. Admittedly if there is no wind you will not be generating...BUT...when there is wind (above 3.2 m per second) you will be generating 24/7, day or night. Emissions are virtually nil.
Related QuestionsIs Chicago, in general, and the lakefront, in particular, a good source of wind energy?
IPRO 307 Home Page - FAQThe Chicago lakefront provides the highest annual wind speeds of any region in the Chicago area. Overall the wind resource in Chicago is moderate: it is better than the resource found in many states, but not as good as states such as California, Texas, and the Dakotas.
Related QuestionsWhat is wind energy?
Western Wind EnergyThe sun's radiation heats different parts of the earth at different rates-most notably during the day and night, but also when different surfaces (for example, water and land) absorb or reflect at different rates. Hot air rises, reducing the atmospheric pressure at the earth's surface, and cooler air is drawn in to replace it. Air has mass, and when it is in motion, it contains the energy of that motion - "kinetic energy.

DEVELOPMENT WITH CARE | Wind EnergyWind energy is the most proven form of renewable energy in the UK, and therefore provides the opportunity for the most immediate way of reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in the electricity generation sector. The need to reduce CO2 emissions is widely accepted due to the increasing changes in our climate and the impact it is already having on wildlife species, eco-systems, the weather and sea levels.Related Questions

Related QuestionsIs biomass really a renewable source of energy?
Bioenergy and Biomass Frequently Asked QuestionsYes. If biomass is cultivated and harvested in a way that allows regrowth without depleting nutrient and water resources, it is a renewable resource that can be used to generate energy on demand, with little net additional contributions to global "greenhouse gas" emissions. Burning biomass efficiently results in little or no net emission of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, since the bioenergy crop plants actually took up an equal amount of carbon dioxide from the air when they grew.
Related QuestionsWhat is an alternate energy source for patients with McArdle's Disease?
FAQ - Frequently Asked QuestionsCreatine kinase can convert phosphocreatine into creatine, meanwhile phosphorylating ADP to make ATP. However, this process provides energy for only about four seconds of physical exertion.
Related QuestionsCan I get all of my energy from a renewable energy source?
FAQYes. It is possible to meet all of your energy needs through a renewable energy source. You will need to determine your usage profile, load profile and site conditions which will dictate how much solar photovoltaic cell and/or wind will be necessary to supply your alternative energy source power.

Related QuestionsWhat is the source of energy of convective vortices?
AVE - FAQThe source of the energy for all convective vortices including: dust devils, waterspouts, tornadoes and hurricanes is the buoyancy of the air rising in the eyewall of the vortex. In the case of dust devils, where there is no condensation, the air near the ground can be 10 to 20?C warmer than the ambient air at the 10 m level and the rising air can be approximately 5?C warmer than the air through which it rises.
Related QuestionsIs wind energy economically viable?
The economics of generating electricity from the wind have improved greatly over the last ten years. The price of electricity generated by wind turbines is comparable to that of any new build gas power station and by and large cheaper than any new coal station fitted with clean-coal technology.
Related QuestionsWhat can I do to help wind energy?
One of the most helpful things you can do is to help us win the debate on wind energy. Respond to letters in local and national papers, write to the local planning authority at the council, write to councilors themselves, participate in radio phone-in programmes and wherever else the opportunity arises. There are innumerable independent national polls that show well over three-quarters of the population support wind energy ??" please don't be one of the silent majority and support wind.
Related QuestionsHow popular is wind energy?
Western Wind EnergyOpinion surveys regularly show that just over eight out of 10 people (80%) are in favor of wind energy, and less than one in ten (around 5%) is against it. The rest are undecided. Public opinion in support of wind power tends to become even more strongly in favor once the wind turbines are installed and operating, a finding from several surveys carried out in the UK and in Spain.
Related QuestionsWhy is there sometimes opposition to wind energy projects?
Western Wind EnergyLocal opposition to proposed wind farms usually arises because some people perceive that the development will spoil the view that they are used to. It is true that a large wind farm can be a significant change, but while some people express concern about the effect wind turbines have on the beauty of our landscape, others see them as elegant and beautiful, or symbols of a better, less polluted future.
Related QuestionsIs wind energy reliable?
BANKS DEVELOPMENTS. DEVELOPMENT WITH CARE | Wind EnergyA modern wind turbine produces electricity 80-85% of the time, but it generates different outputs dependent on wind speed. Over the course of the year, it will generate about 30% of the theoretical maximum output. This is known as its load factor. The load factor of conventional coal and gas fired power stations is around 40%. A modern wind turbine will generate enough to meet the electricity demands of more than a thousand homes over the course of a year.

Welcome to Fire Mountain Solar -Solar Electric Solar Panels ...A wind energy system can provide a cushion against electric power price increases. Wind energy systems help reduce U.S. dependence on fossil fuels; and they are nonpolluting. Related QuestionsIs wind energy good for the environment?
Frequently asked questions - Our ProjectsFrom an environmental perspective, wind energy is one of the best new generation options immediately available in New Zealand. Fossil fuel alternatives emit greenhouse gases, and other renewable options have smaller capacities, longer lead times, or are more expensive. Wind farms are a sustainable and environmentally responsible alternative to using fossil fuels for electricity generation.
Related QuestionsHow reliable is wind energy?
Frequently asked questions - Our ProjectsWind power generation is unlikely to ever totally replace other forms of generation such as fossil fuel or hydro power stations. This is because the wind does not always blow strongly enough and because many wind turbines would be needed to generate enough electricity. New Zealand has consistently strong wind conditions compared with most other countries, which makes wind power generation much more reliable here.
Related QuestionsWhy go offshore to generate wind energy?
Bluewater Wind - Frequently Asked Questions - DelawareIn Delaware, and along the densely populated east coast, there is scarce suitable land for onshore wind parks. Located more than six miles from land as proposed by Bluewater Wind, the Delaware wind park, when visible at all, will appear very small on the horizon. Connecting offshore turbines to the power grid avoids construction of expensive high voltage overland transmission lines.
Related QuestionsHow is wind energy generated?
TVA: Wind Turbine EnergyA turbine and switchgear are mounted at the top of each tower in a casing called a nacelle, and blades are attached to the turbine. The turbines use moving air to produce power by transferring the winds momentum to the rotor blades and localizing that energy in a single rotating shaft. The larger turbines rotate at about 15 revolutions per minute.
Related QuestionsHow much energy can wind supply worldwide?
Wind Energy PotentialUtilities must maintain enough power plant capacity to meet expected customer electricity demand at all times, plus an additional reserve margin. All other things being equal, utilities generally prefer plants that can generate as needed (that is, conventional plants) to plants that cannot (such as wind plants).
Related QuestionsHow much energy can wind realistically supply to the U.S.?
Wind Energy PotentialWind energy could supply about 20% of the nation's electricity, according to Battelle Pacific Northwest Laboratory, a federal research lab. Wind energy resources useful for generating electricity can be found in nearly every state. U.S. wind resources are even greater, however. North Dakota alone is theoretically capable (if there were enough transmission capacity) of producing enough wind-generated power to meet more than fourth of U.S. electricity demand.
