ISO, the International Standards Organisation, have developed a series of standards and guidelines in the field of environment which collectively are known as the EN ISO 14000 series. It is not correct to refer to the EN ISO 14000 standard. EN ISO 14001 is the only certifiable standard, the remainder being supportive guidelines. Both EMAS and EN ISO 14001 have the common objective of providing for good environmental management. However yet too often they are seen as competitors.

The recent revisions to EMAS have made it easier for organisations already certified to EN ISO 14001 to attain EMAS registration. For these organisations there will be some minor modifications to be made to the core EN ISO 14001 elements plus some additional steps specific to EMAS. The flow diagram below outlines the additional steps needed for implementation of EMAS for an EN ISO 14001 certified organisation.

EMAS goes beyond EN ISO 14001 in a number of ways, requiring the undertaking of an initial environmental review, the active involvement of employees in the implementation of EMAS, and the publication of relevant information to the public and other interested parties. Public availability: EMAS requires that the policy, programme, environmental management system and details of the organisations performance are made publicly available as part of the environmental statement.

EN13432 is a benchmark standard aimed at protecting the environment and the human food chain. Products meeting EN13432 are safe for composting. In order to do this EN 13432 defines the characteristics that a material must have so that it can be called 'compostable'. In brief, a compostable material would have: Biodegradability - within six months a minimum of 90% of its compostable material would have been converted to carbon dioxide.

En Primeur??? is a French wine trade term for wine which is sold as a ???future???, i.e. before it is bottled ??" usually one or two years after the En Primeur offer. The most important annual offerings come from Bordeaux, Burgundy, Italy and the Rh??ne. For many wines, and certainly for the most sought-after, the En Primeur price is the cheapest way of securing the wines you want. These Guidelines follow the management system and reporting principles presented in ISO14001 and EMAS developed by the International Standards Organisations and European Union respectively. The term "Roux-en-Y" refers to the "Y" shape of the small bowel connection that is created during surgery. The small bowel is transected (divided) and then reattached at one end to the newly created pouch (the new stomach) where it will now receive food that has been chewed and swallowed. Several different techniques are used in the gastric bypass procedure, and surgeons have specific reasons for using certain gastric pouch sizes. During this surgical procedure, the stomach is divided into two compartments. The upper part of the stomach, called a pouch, receives the food that you eat. The surgeon is able to reduce the size of the stomach from two fists down to the size of a thumb, with a row of staples. The stomach is able to hold less, so the patient feels full very quickly. A part of the small intestine is re-routed, or bypassed, and the pouch is connected with a small opening (anastomosis) to the small intestine, which slows the progression of food through the GI tract.

No, none of our rooms have en-suite but there are plenty of bathrooms with showers located in the corridors around the building. They are cleaned daily and we provide you with fresh towels everyday.
