How does a solar pool heater work?
Welcome to SolarBLUE, INC. :: Solar Pool Heating FAQ :: Phon...Imagine a garden hose that has been lying in the sun. When you turn on the faucet, out comes hot water. That's solar heating. The sun's energy has been absorbed by the hose and transmitted as heat to the water inside it. The hose acts as a solar collector. Comfortable swimming water temperature is relatively low compared to other uses of hot water. This allows the use of simple, efficient solar collectors (see following question).

Related QuestionsWill a solar pool heater save me money?
Solar Unlimited Pool Heaters - FAQsIf a pool owner heats their pool with natural gas through the normal swimming season, an investment in solar can pay for itself in 2 to 3 years. If the pool owner does not have a gas heater or wish to use one, solar will not really "save" money, but the pool will be much warmer and more inviting. A swimming pool, with decking and landscaping, represent a sizable investment for the homeowner. Maintenance costs exist whether the pool is used or not.
Related QuestionsWill a solar pool heater really heat my pool?
Solar Unlimited Pool Heaters - FAQsOf course! Depending on your weather and climatic conditions, you can expect your FAFCO solar pool heater to: raise your pool temperature 2 to 5 degrees Fahrenheit each time the water passes through the system, and raise your pool's temperature 5 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit over a period of several days of good weather. A solar blanket will help hold in this heat at night or when it's windy, and can help the system be even more effective. [Top]
Related QuestionsQ In simple terms, how does a solar pool heating system work?
The Solar Energy CompanyUsing the pump that circulates pool water through the filter, the water is diverted so that it flows though the many small passages of the solar collector, it's warmed by the sun. This warm water then flows directly back into the pool. When the pool is has reached your desirable comfort level, the water then by-passes the solar collector and returns directly to the pool.
Related QuestionsWhat special maintenance is required on a solar pool heater?
Solar Unlimited Pool Heaters - FAQsUsually no special maintenance is required during the season. Modern electronic controls allow you to "set and forget" the solar heater. However, Solar Unlimited offers an optional yearly maintenance visit at a reduced service call rate for those who would like their system checked. Related QuestionsHow does the heater work and why is the heater so effective?
ECONO-HEAT - Electric Panel Wall Mounted Heaters: Frequently...Unlike a central heating system and portable fan heaters, which use forced convection, ECONO-HEATERS create natural circulation of warm air within a room. They are mounted flush with the wall with spacers, creating an air gap against the large heater surface. Cold air is then drawn (inducted) into the air gap between the heater and the wall and heated rapidly to rise out of heater.
Related QuestionsHow does a heater work?
Questions & Answers for Tropical Fish-Cascade Koi-Food for T...Virtually all aquarium heaters use a bi-metallic strip thermostat to control the flow of electricity to a simple heating coil. The strip, as the name suggests, is made from two different metals that expand and contract at different rates when the temperature changes, which causes the strip to bend away from an electrical switch inside. When the water gets warm, the strip bends outwards and cuts off the supply of electricity, preventing the tank from getting too hot.
Related QuestionsHow does the Titan Heater work?
One of the greatest benefits of the Titan Heater is that it only consumes energy on demand; that is, when you open your hot water faucet. The water is heated immediately and in just seconds you'll have hot water at your finger tips. The key to the savings is the on demand method by which water is heated, only when you needed. One of the great benefits of the Titan Heater is its compact size by which allows installation almost anywhere.

How does one identify a good solar water heater?
TIPS ON DESCALING OF SOLAR WATER HEATING SYSTEMSFirst and foremost requirement of a good solar heater is that it should have sufficient collector area for the capacity claimed. Collector area used in the system determines the capacity of water heating. Fox example, in typical north Indian weather conditions, on a sunny winter day, a sq. m. of collector area can be expected to heat around 50 litres of water by a temperature of 30-40? C. Typical flat plate collectors made in the country have an area of around 2 sq.
Related QuestionsHow does a solar thermal system work?
Arc Solar | About UsA solar system consists of a solar collector, a regulator, a multistage pump and a very good insulated hot water tank. The collector on the roof collects the energy from the sun with its absorbers and transfers it via a solar medium (glycol MH – the non-poisonous type). The heat is transferred through copper pipes into the solar storage tank. The solar station with its built-in regulator transports the heat via a heat exchanger, into a solar storage tank.
Related QuestionsHow does a solar panel work?
Dovetail FAQSunlight is composed of photons, or particles of solar energy. These photons contain various amounts of energy corresponding to the different wavelengths of the solar spectrum. When photons strike a photovoltaic cell, they may be reflected, pass right through, or be absorbed. Only the absorbed photons provide energy to generate electricity. When enough sunlight (energy) is absorbed by the material (a semiconductor), electrons are dislodged from the material's atoms.
Related QuestionsHow does solar power system work ?
How Solar power worksAns: The solar power system uses the PV or photovoltaic modules to convert sunlight into electric current. The electric current generated by PV modules is DC in nature. So the DC current is converted to 220V volts AC before feeding into home. The picture below shows the conceptual diagram. Ans. The Solar power system will store the energy in batteries, just like inverters, during day and use that energy to run the home during night.
Related QuestionsHow does a solar electric system work?
Frequently Asked QuestionsA solar electric system consists of solar electric modules – AKA “Panels” – and one or more inverters. A Solar Electric Module reacts directly to sunlight by generating one-directional electrical current, called DC (direct current). An inverter changes the DC generated by the modules into AC (alternating current), the same electricity supplied by the utility that powers lights, refrigerators, office machines, and appliances.
